Saleh is dealing with a very, very, very young defense that can only improve over time.

I agree but these fools should know how to wrap up when making a tackle. Week after week of trying to go through a player instead of wrapping up is on the DC.

I get a sense Saleh lacks the disciplinary side at DC. The tight ass type personality. It's in every good DC. His defense lacks focus

Couldn't agree more. The lack of discipline is what is maddening. Way too often, the players are simply confused or not where they need to be. The Gates TD today was simply inexcusable. This defense has some talented players but that talent is not being developed....and that is on the coaching staff.

I know the New England coaching staff quizzes their players before every game to ensure they know what to do in critical situations. If they don't pass, they don't play. Perhaps the Niners need to implement some system like that.

As a flag football DC his CB's still wouldn't turn their heads and look for the ball...

But at least ther lack of tackling wont stand out.

His job is to fix this s**t, and he obviously lacks whatever it takes to do that. He needs to go after this season...this is inexcusable. I heard John Lynch talking about it this week, and you can tell it bothers him alot--I don't think he survives if he can't get these guys to do what defensive do: tackle somebody.

Heard Lynch on KNBR this past week saying the same thing - the missed tackles need to stop & aren't tolerated. He was bothered by it, especially since he was a sure-tackling player himself. Something will have to give before long to get this issue addressed.

Nobody midseason, but plenty of talented DC via the fired HC route. Chuck Pagano is 1 but likely to be other options as well with firings coming this offseason (Todd Bowles would top my wish list).

Yeah He's not getting canned mid season...I've thrown out Bowles he's run a 4-3 and 3-4.

Issue is Kyle loves this scheme and I really don't want to see all the players go through another scheme again.

Sean McDermott?

Probably saving up for unemployment. Smart.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I agree with you 100-percent. 101-percent, even. I am sure that even Lynch is surprised by the performance of this unit. I think we all are.

The fact that Saleh doesn't have linebackers shooting the gaps is also concerning. Lynch has spent some very high draft capital on Foster and Warner, but I don't think I've seen them crash the backfield once. They, instead, fade off into coverage.

All in all, I don't see this defense surprising anyone. That IS a problem.

Yep, going to be a long year unless something drastically changes.
I genuinely love the guy; love his story.

But unfortunately, this is a cruel business and a change needs to be made.
He should've been fired after last season
