Not a good story. I'm not sure why Lynch would tell it? Is he trying to steal credit? Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

I sure Jimmy has rough skin, but you have to pretend Kyle was on board from day one.

Neither do I. He really has nothing to gain.

He didn't say he wasn't on board. Kirk was his first choice, everyone knew that. They had history. Jimmy was by all accounts, not available since they tried trading for him earlier and were shut down.

Everyone knew Kirk would be available this offseason so that was his first choice, because he was the best available choice.

I'm sure neither Kyle nor Jimmy care about this.

Agreed. It made no sense to me comment on that situation.

Pretty funny some are getting hung up on this non news. Cant wait when the Niners visit the Vikings this season. Gonna be some tryhards conspiring that Shanny will be staring at Kirk with puppy eyes all game lol.

Looks like he's predicting we go DB in the first? Wow, don't know about that. I think we go defense yes, but D Line.

Not as long as you had a retarded oc enabled by a coach who had to try to prove to the world they were smarter than anyone else

Well it's just a bad move to have an offense that's handicapped by the NFL rules from the get go. It's like playing chess without a Queen. That's less than smart, I agree.
I think he has the smarts to become an offensive wizard, like a Sean Petyon, possibly a McVay, but he's handicapped by this *manly* smash mouth stuff that goes ok in college, but not in the NFL were everybody is pretty much on the same talent level. He's an incredibly creative coach, and I'd say as creative as Kyle is - on the passing game, Harbaugh is in the run game. I think he knows that he needs to get better as a coach in the passing game. Maybe that's why he fired most if not all of his offensive coaching staff this offseason and hired new bodies. We shall see...
As I listen to players talk about Kyle's system I become even more thankful that he became our coach. So many things that the organization got right with this hire. All the years that we changed systems or had to worry about the Offensive Coordinator. Now our OC is built in to the HC and neither are going anywhere for a long time. Very thankful to have this coach at this time.

On top of that the way that he held the team together during a very long frustrating losing streak last year put to rest any questions about how he would handle the transition to HC. In my opinion he should have been voted Coach of the Year by the NFL rather than McVay.

Does anyone think that kyle is pissed he has jimmy instead of cousins?

He was mourning so I think he's sad not pissed.

I bet the mourning was only because he had to tell Kirk they wouldn't be signing him this offseason.

Kirk was a known entity, especially to Kyle. Jimmy had two games under his belt where real bullets were flying. It is obvious thy Kyle was looking at Cousins. But that changed ... quickly.

Good points! I think Jimmy's situation is similar to what BeatHard is (in a sense). Jimmy had about 2+ games on philm and the rest was college information and philm. Same with BeatHard, he's played several games, one win, and so what is his current market value, vs a guy like Cousins who has established a lot of stuff on game tape. its really all conjecture and that was Jimmy's situation prior to the trade. I don't think folks appreciate that fact that Kyle was trading a 2nd round pick for a pretty unknown QB.

If you ask some of the dudes in here they'll tell you Lynch forced Jimmy on him and Kyle didn't want him.

This. From Day 1 here it was patently obvious that Cousins would be the 49ers target. He was hand picked by Kyle and Mike, had experience in the offense, had two very good seasons as a starter under his belt, the Redskins completely FUBARed his contract situation.

He was destined to be a 49er like most expected. Then Garoppolo happened. Nobody had really expected him to be available, the Patriots had turned down all offers for him in the offseason and when he did, the 49ers to their credit jumped on it.

If Garoppolo had crapped the bed then the 49ers probably still pursue Cousins but since he showed up and his play elevated the offense and turned the whole franchise around, plans changed.

In the end, it could turn out that Garoppolo becomes by far the superior option and he becomes a Top 5 QB, the rare type that can carry a team across the finish line while Cousins maintains his current trajectory of being a pretty good but not great QB.

Well, when Lynch gives interviews and he says Kyle was depressed after getting Jimmy, I don't know what to say. But I'm pretty sure 5-0 made Kyle happy! No more sadness or depression after that!
