I would not say he's been terrible at drafting wrs, ayuik, pearsall, stribling, jennings all decent. I'm not sure what their hit percentage (25%?) which is probably worse than average but not terrible.

I thought we had a really good chance to win a sb this year. I did lose a lot of faith seeing yesterdays game though.

The coaching had a huge impact on them almost losing.

It's hard to understand trying to pass more when you lose more receivers and with a lead...
Kyle is a great coach. But that has been a weakness. The question is what causes it.
That is all.

Have to evaluate yourself and try to keep getting better at what ails you. That is the business.

Stop worrying about that second half against the Commanders. You know how hard it is to win games and remain undefeated? The 2007 17-0 patriots had 4 games they won by 3 pts. Sometimes an opponent figures you out. Luckily we held on and won. Next week will not be the same. They will be more prepared this time with Evans going out. Deebo was also out against the commanders. We're getting guys back and will be fine

The amount of b***hing by fans about Kyle Shanahan is ridiculous. Is he perfect and makes perfect decisions and gameplans every week and in every situation? No- no coach ever has or ever will, and the NFL is full of the best coaching minds in the world that sometimes will make the right call/plan against you.

There's a staunch difference between pointing out an instance where he didn't make the best call/plan, but to say "He needs to improve" is f**king idiotic. Evolve? Sure- EVERY coach, no matter how decorated, needs to constantly evolve/tweak their X's and O's because the NFL is always involving. But Shanahan doesn't have any "weaknesses" or areas where he is deficient at.

The Commanders beat the Seahawks and put 33 points up on them, the 49ers were down to their 6th and 7th string WR's, players were dropping balls and committing penalties in key situations in the 2nd half. It's easy to go back and look at every play in every game that didn't work and say another play should have been called, but football is situational and players still have to execute.

But again all of us and that includes coaches at every level have a blind spot.

It's not revisionist but more documented that his tendency going back to the Falcon Super Bowl is to give up on the run.

Now, is he a good coach. Certainly.

Shanahan is the only coach in the history of the NFL who has gotten blamed for a collape in a big game as a COORDINATOR, when in fact his offense outperformed expectations overall for the game.

Shanahan is the reason the Falcons scored 28 points in the half...

My mind is still boggled by how a teams defense can get shredded for 25 points in a half and how the OC gets blamed for that.

I'm not trying to be brash, brother, hope I'm not coming off that way, and it's easy to go back say "Should have ran the ball", but it's crazy how instead of "Dan Quinn, the defensive minded coach whose team gave up 25 points in a half blew the game", it's "The offensive coordinator blew a 25 point lead".

Shanahan is the main reason that game was shaping up to be a blowout, he has nothing to do with the defense, yet he gets no credit for the lead and all the blame for the collapse.

The Atlanta fans are wishing that Kyle was their head coach instead of that guy Dan Quinn who was Kyle's boss in Atlanta or whoever their current head coach is now. We are blessed!
The idea that people are using this game as an example of Kyle not knowing how to close a game is comical.

For all intents and purposes, we had three offensive possessions in the second half. The first one we drove the length of the field and the only reason we didnt score a touchdown is because a lineman got a fingertip on a pass. The second drive had a huge early down sack that basically ended any chances of doing anything/running clock. The third drive also had an early down sack, as well as a Kittle drop/incompletion that would have extended the drive to eat clock. Couple that with the fact that the defense kept extending offensive drives with a 3rd down penalty, made the 20 point lead dwindle.

Not sure how people are looking at Kyle sideways for this one....a game which we WON.

The 2 best coaches in the NFL are Andy Reid and Kyle Shanahan, then everyone else. This idea that "Winning a SB means definitively you're a better HC than guys who haven't" is as absurd as saying that every QB that has won a Super Bowl is better than any QB who hasn't won on.

Mike McDonald and McVay are great coaches who deserve a ton of credit for winning Super Bowls, but both of them had some very lucky breaks along the way in their SB runs, and in the case of McVay, we can see how he coaches through adversity/injuries vs Kyle. Right now, McDonald has no answers for his short-handed offense now that his OC is gone.

When all is said and done, Kyle Shanahan's name will be talked about among the great coaches in NFL history like Walsh, Belicheck, Andy Reid, his own dad...

I think any GM outside of Kansas City, if they had a chance to hire Kyle would think long and hard about making room for him regardless of who their current HC Is.

7 of those points were from a pick six.

The Patriots needed about 20 different things to go right for them. And it did. I think everyone (OC, DC, HC, players) are responsible whenever a team blows a 25 point lead in the Super Bowl.

Because Kyle left right after, both Matt Ryan and Dan Quinn decided to blame the OC for the loss. People then just accept the the OC was responsible for the loss when it made no reason whatsoever.

I agree with most of this. My only issue is we wasn't running it great in the 2nd half and knowing they was going to go all out to stop the run. Plus the defense was getting shredded really, I would have loved to see his patented PA boot dragging GK to other side of the field.

I for one was hoping he tried to close the gane on offense instead of trying to hang on not to lose.

I understand doing that opens the door for criticism if it doesn't work. That being said I would have been fine with it.

This. We aren't going undefeated, there will be games that they don't play as well, Evans leaving definitely affected the offense, but a W is a W. I can't wait to see what the haters say when we inevitably lose a game…

first Moony Ward said Kyle screwed up the gameplan in the SB vs KC, and everyone boo-hooed it like he didn't what he was talking about. Now one of his former players calls him out, and a pretty accurate take imo.

Joe Thomas says hes the best coach he ever dealt with.

Again the best coaches ever call screens on 4th and 8. Kyle must learn.
Roddy white is going to eat crow in February. I'm sure people said the same about Andy Reid until he got a handful
