49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

SB 54--What we all feared happened: Mahomes made plays and Jimmy was awful in the 4th quarter. That is what happens when you have an above average QB and the other team has a generational level QB. Kyle could only hide him for so long. At some point your QB has to make plays that are there to be made. And there were plays there. He missed, and not just the Sanders miss either. He looked like he didn't belong.

SB 58-I don't think Mahomes was much better than Brock. Some breaks went against us. It happens.

2012 SB team was the best imo. I thought that was a win going in and never had doubts.....until the game started. Simply not prepared and a final drive that was indeed offensive....just not in a good way. How on earth do you not run Gore one time? This loss doesn't make me feel heartbreak. Just anger. Because that is a team we should have beaten. We were better.

Coach Shanahan says he's been around the most of any coach I have been around.

Super Bowl 54 still feels like the game that we should've won. We had the ball AND a 10-point lead with half a quarter remaining. That's a win 9 times out of 10.

People talk about Super Bowl 58 more (probably because it was more recent and it went to OT) but it never felt like we really controlled that game. It just felt like a 50/50 game until the end.

Super Bowl 47 was honestly lost during the week. You can't go down 28-6 in the 3rd quarter and expect to win.

As much of a mini-miracle that the regular season run was, 2021 might've been the second-best opportunity. Tartt catches and returns it and we probably get the Bengals in the Super Bowl who we had just beaten in Cincinnati the month before.

2021 was the toughest loss of Shanahan's tenure I think. 2022 was the best team we've had though. Too bad Brock's arm got blown off… that was going to be a crazy game against another juggernaut team.

Meh, probably would've gotten our asses handed to us by Mahomey in the SB

Lol… maybe find a way to lose.

The Chiefs were an all time great team.

I remember a couple years ago season finale Detroit vs GB. GB needs to win to get in (I think it may have been Rodgers last year). GB loses.

Next morning on Good Morning Football on NFLN, Kyle Brandt says he's glad GB lost bc had they won they would have to face the Niners and no one wanted to see GB vs the Niners bc they always get their butts kicked by the Niners.

Same applies to KC vs the Niners. It's a myth at this point to think we can somehow beat them in any form and erase memories past. They own(ed) us when it counts so best way to beat them is to not have to play them…

Depressing and true. We need a win so we can heal these f**king wounds already lol.

Brock getting hurt was like the worst feeling I had since Joe got that hit. Or when Hearst...

Our D was peak and would have taken Mahomes down with that bum ankle for sure. But then so many freak injuries during that cursed game. So unfair .

ROBBED!

We'll test it again this season. We could be an 07 Pats level team and I'd still expect to lose at Arrowhead by multiple TDs. Never goes well for us there, lol.
Sometimes we act like KC is some mythical final boss when history already gave us the blueprint. The 1994 Niners didn't sit around talking about how "unbeatable" the Cowboys were — they punched them in the mouth in the NFC Championship, ended the streak, and went on to win the Super Bowl.Dynasties don't get erased by avoidance. They get erased the same way Dallas got erased in '94 — by lining up, swinging first, and taking what's yours.

Somewhat they are mythical… because you can still beat them and somehow lose

but this team won't back down either, this is our year

They also lost to the Chiefs in Arrowhead, lol.

Eddie D went out and bought every available pro bowl player he could just to beat the Cowboys. You can't do that anymore.

Yep. And signed the best defensive player in the game and stole Ken Norton from the Cowboys in order to do it.
