Regardless of how they do I have to give Macdonald a ton of respect. That defense of his is LEGIT. I feel dumb for ever doubting it. Was hoping they were feeding off bad competition and clearly I was a dumbass. They tackle SO well. They don't give anything easy to QBs it's a grind all game long. And one of their best players didn't even play. Yikes...

They're built to win games with mid level QBs though they definitely should've lost that game last night. Pats and Maye completely gave it away...just insane decision making across the board in the 2nd half. From leaving JSN wide open on 4th and 1 to Maye's interceptions including the last one.

I'm excited to see what team we have tonight. We get the SB favorite out of the gate. Donald or no Donald they're a serious problem on both sides of the ball so you can't ask for a better test out of the gate than them.

I hope Kyle has a great plan for this one as does Raheem. Here's hoping our guys stay healthy and show what they can do and we go into week 2 tied with Seattle.

For sure, you have to tip your cap to them. It's a talented group led by a special mind going into the 3rd year of the program with basically the same group of players. At this stage, they're mastering and refining the nuances of a highly complicated scheme.

They're going to be extremely difficult to beat.

The bottom line is the fire Shanahan crowd has really no good argument to fire Shanahan other than he hasn't won a SB. He's been one of the absolute best HC's throughout his tenure here, and he's the organization's most valuable asset. Anybody with an ounce of football sense understands this.

Shouldn't that be the only argument when you've been coaching for a decade with nothing to show for it ? Or are we going to start showcasing all our runner up medals to prove he's a winner

Winning seasons are fun. There were so many almost unwatchable and joyless teams prior to Shanahan.

Ask the Andy Reid led Eagles how much fun those seasons were. I'm pretty sure those fans enjoyed their 2 SB winning seasons NOT under Andy Reid a lot more.

The fans enjoyed all those meaningful games.
Did they enjoy the Chip Kelly years?

Chiefs went 50 years without a SB until Andy Reid showed up.

And we've gone 32 years without one. When's our Andy Reid coming ? Because it sure ain't Kyle, not when you haven't cracked the code in 10 years doing it with stacked rosters…

Maybe when our next Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Roger Craig, Ronnie Lott, Keena Turner and Charles Haley arrive. Seriously Kyle's had some good rosters even though many fans think they can't draft well. They've been so close twice that it hurts. Each of those games turned in the Chiefs favor in the 4th quarter with one or two plays making the difference. In juries to key players have ruined their chances in 2 other years. I can't blame the losses on Kyle. He had them in position to win both games and the defense just couldn't hold up.

Welp, at least he asked. But I do think it's petty that the NFL won't move the game to Monday.

Pretty messed up for the league to not only deny Kyle's request, but then also give the MNF game to the Rams who probably didn't even ask for it.

NFL aways finds new ways to screw over the 49ers.

i agree with nfl here, nfl shouldn't schedule based on what coaches ask for, we are in primetime already tonight, and playing today and flying back that's plenty of time for a next sunday game, pretty sure we get an extra recovery day or two i don't think we are working friday, sat or sun tbh

True. Plus having an extra day after essentially getting 10 days from Week 1-2 will make it a short week for week 3.

That defense is legit. Nothing is easy against them. The running game must work to have a chance. A big reason I think we grabbed Black. Still it would be nice to have some better hogs up front against that dline.

But I'll say this, it's week one and we're pretty healthy and we have the best Qb in the league and all-pros everywhere. Yeah, we're a bit long in the tooth in a lot of spots, but I'm a little tired at all the hand-wringing from our fans to this point. F**k the Rams, F**k the Seahawks, we're the team to beat until we aren't (which could be by 8:30 tonight, lol).

A Monday night prime-time game between the 49ers and the Dolphins? That was never going to happen. Even on Monday night there won't be anybody watching that game but Niner fans. No way the NFL is going to give up a prime time audience to accommodate a West Coast team that no one in the eastern media tolerates.

i don't know what the dolphins are really doing this year it's rookies up and down the whole starting lineup they may be in for a very rough season i didn't know that was week 2, the only variable is gotta contain willis, him next to achane and they can run the ball that's about it...

Then they shouldn't have given the Rams the MNF game coming off the Australia trip. The fact is the Rams are the Australia market team and they specifically asked to play the 49ers to avoid another Sofi 49er fan takeover(we'll see how it goes for them tonight) so the least they should've done if not giving the 49ers a MNF game heading off this game was to keep it the same for the Rams.

But no...Rams get the preferential treatment again. Which is simply a reminder to guys like DrEll crying about 49ers losing SBs with stacked teams...sometimes if the league isn't trying to push your team through for whatever agenda they have it's that much harder to do so.

Unfortunately for us due to the amazing success in the 80s/90s and because our fanbase is so substantial across not only California but everywhere(as I post this in New England) it does feel like we're not getting the same type of red carpet treatment as teams who the league feels need more fans to pump up their $.

Don't care if it makes it seem like i have a tinfoil hat on...it's a constant reminder in how we're treated vs other teams and it's very frustrating.

To be fair it didn't have to be the Dolphins. But like I said above...the better thing for the NFL to do would've been to have us and the Rams play on Sunday.

Rams and Giants aren't exactly a heavy draw week 2 either.

on the plus side i understand the next rams 49ers game that's in our home yard so they are burning their home game with this, and i think from us being a bigger brand, better history and traveling early we'll have the aussie crowd behind us

i think a good line from knbr talking rams they said the rams don't even have LA behind them, it's true...
