Yeah, they don't understand the Xs and Os. Even at the fundamental level. No quarrel with you here..

Most fans probably aren't. Certainly dealt with a few vocal ones here however.

He's definitely not flawless, and I also think his role in the organization is outsized here (which is a good and bad thing).

Every coach has some flaws. Belichick was a bad judge of offensive talent and drafted poorly. I'm sure he hit on a couple guys but drafting wasn't his strength. Defensive schemes were his forte. Andy Reid is considered a top coach but the Chiefs haven't had great drafts either. One reason is its harder to find great players when you draft near the end of each round. On top of that when you win your players start demanding more money and leave when they don't get it.

Honest question.

Ben Johnson would have been a great fit when that question was asked a couple years ago, but people just laughed. Oh and Super Bowl winner Mike Macdonald's name was also brought up, but again the Kyle cult just laughed.

so why ask that question ? The Kyle supporters will laugh it off and find reasons that certain candidates would not be good fits….only to watch those same candidates have more success than guy in 1/10 the seasons he coached
Stop lying, especially the Mac part lol

Dude is such a troll.

The bottom line is the fire Shanahan crowd has really no good argument to fire Shanahan other than he hasn't won a SB. He's been one of the absolute best HC's throughout his tenure here, and he's the organization's most valuable asset. Anybody with an ounce of football sense understands this.

Shouldn't that be the only argument when you've been coaching for a decade with nothing to show for it ? Or are we going to start showcasing all our runner up medals to prove he's a winner

Four NFC title games and 2 SBs isn't what I would call nothing. They've been a playoff team every year except the 2 when they had major injuries to key players. There's only one SB winner each year and not many repeat winners. The Chiefs are the closest team we've had to a dynasty in recent seasons. The Niners are among the top 5 winningest teams during Kyle's time here. The fact that the Niners faced a better team with the best QB and coach each time they reached the SB had something to do with those losses.

I think many forget the time where it was 19 playoffs in 20 years. Missed the 20th at 10-6. Today's rules, 20/20.

10 NFC Championship games in 19 years. 5 SBs/10 NFC Championship games. 5 SB Dubs.

Almost impossible to replicate. Kyle and John done a hella job trying.... JMHO. NFL likes the Chiefs :shrugging:
Bosa got Held on 3rd and long, shoulda been 3rd and forever. After the holding penalty.
Next one, they changed the OT rules. OG rules, that's a Dub.

Just sayin. 1st we were robbed by the refs. 2nd we were robbed by "engagement". Kyle and John put us in position to win, and not their fault it didn't come home.

Nice history. If you're a 49ers fan. If you're the rest of the world, all you remember is 2 SB losses to the same team in a 5 year span. The team's legacy wasn't built on playoff game appearances. Go ask the early 1970s 49ers, who kept getting pounced by the Cowboys in the championship game.

That doesn't mean those teams weren't good or entertaining. For some reason you seem to think every team that doesn't win the SB sucks. Anyone that watches football knows that when it comes down to one game many factors can determine the outcome. A drop pass in the end zone. A tipped INT. A bad call by the officials. An injury.

The Niners outplayed the Chiefs for most of both of those SBs. The defense couldn't hold the lead in the 4th quarter and that's on them. Or is it? You have to give some credit to the Chiefs offense led by one of the best off schedule QBs we've ever seen.

Once again a reminder for everyone. Putting fans in "cults" is not a wise choice of words. If you have a point to make you can use different wording.

And no neither of those guys would've been great fits here because you're looking at a COMPLETELY different situation for each of them.

Ben Johnson looks for very different things than Kyle in his offense. MacDonald would never be able to have the defense he built in Seattle with the picks and players we have on our roster.

That's the issue with some of you guys. Throwing out names and then pretending all the success they had with their other teams carry over to the 49ers and none of the failures.

That's why him bringing up Madden is perfect. It's a simple switch in Madden, nobody cares about scheme, nobody cares about the locker room impact and how the new HC meshes with the players left over from Kyle/John. No concern about the GM/front office situation and no thought process to the cap situation in place.

People pounce on lazy narratives or straight up lies. I don't think anyone here thinks Kyle has no flaws and yet some are stuck in the same lazy takes that have been talked about for years.

Until Kyle Shanahan shows he doesn't give us a good chance to compete for a SB there should be no talk of firing him simply because people want to see what someone else has.

All the Ben Johnson love and he did what? Lost to Kyle Shanahan in their game and then went out in the playoffs in the same round while playing a weaker opponent during the WC round.

I give MacDonald a lot more credit because he took over a mid level team in Seattle and worked with his GM to get the pieces he wanted in place and coached up a storm. Ben Johnson has to show more than a quick turnaround with a #1 overall QB.

Fire KS and bring in who??? Would be another 3 HC in 3 years scenario?

It is perfectly fine to criticize Kyle, I do it all the time. But to believe that he should/could be easily replaced is delusional at best.

If you're rest of the world?

12% of NFL teams have never even been to a SB. 38% have never won a SB.
Since the 49ers won their last one 14 teams have won a SB which means 18 other NFL teams haven't unfortunately including us.

You're acting like the 49ers are a laughing stock of the entire league for crying out loud. Sure unfortunately our rivals can laugh and play the "you haven't won since VHS was a thing" but one thing Kyle has consistently shown as a HC is that when the team isn't decimated by injuries at key positions we're able to be in the tournament and make a run.

When a HC can consistently do that you don't get rid of them because in the end sometimes the luck goes your way. You'd have a bigger case for wanting to get rid of him is if we got to the SB and got our ass handed to us all the time.

And I have no issues with people criticizing Kyle. I may not always agree with your criticism but that's the way it should be. As long as we're discussing actual decisions and not hypotheticals like "he'll never win one" then it's part of being a forum. We're all fans for the most part here. In the end we all want the team to win a SB.

Now if you magically could guarantee me that Coach X takes over for Kyle and we win a Lombardi then I'd pack Kyle's stuff myself. But that's not the world we live in and as of right now I believe Kyle still gives this team the best chance to win a SB than someone else.
Talks of firing Kyle shouldn't be discussed unless the team goes back to back years of missing the playoffs.
