If he got all that from a car wreck then it's pretty bad. He can't even coach. His injuries sound like a guy who got the crap beat out of him

There's no way you believe that when as soon as people heard about the accident they started digging into things and making things worse in the process. You think the media would just wish him well and then stand down if they announced it day one?

That's hilarious.

It was the NFL offseason. They let their HC heal up as much as possible before camp opened up and allowed him to reach out and contact his family/friends to tell them what happened in his own way.

Did you see how the Ricky Pearsall shooting stuff went down? You had people claiming they had trusted sources saying Pearsall died on the operating table. His family and friends/teammates were seeing that stuff posted, meanwhile Ricky never even had surgery.

49ers didn't owe that information to anyone. It wasn't throwing anything off in terms of betting lines or game prep.

Pretty sure he and his family were more worried about his health and recovery than owing explanations to the public because "it might open up a lot of questions"

I don't understand why it's a can of worms. People get in accidents every day. Even if they say at the moment of the crash it won't stop the stupid. People will still be saying how is the treatment going? Why is the team silent on minute by minute updates? What is going on? And so forth. There's so much stupid out there, nothing the team can do can contain it all. But that's not on the team.

but they got out in front of that they told the world prior to opening camp is my understanding

nothing weird is going on, other than coach doesn't break his face every day, that's certainly not normal, but accidents happen all the time. keep your phone in your pocket. coach found out the hard way. i hear he's doing well all things considered and the plastic surgeon did a number. he's got a good run time to heal up. imagine this was mid week or late season it would impact the club a lot more from a football standpoint. this is prolly the best time of year if something like this had to happen, football is the least of the worries when it's real life stuff, but this is a football forum so i mention those points
