If you guys want to do a countdown til training camp let's use the training camp thread for that.

Sometimes it's ok to let some threads chill for a few days lol. I'm sure we'll have plenty of content for this thread once things get going again.

How about 4th quarter.

Not sure if it needs to be explained but coaching impact is shown most early in the game where preparing your team for their opponent shows up more.

Harder to control the 4th quarter when so much is different and you can find yourself playing with a big lead or defect which affects playcalling.

How about 4th quarter.

Harder to control the 4th quarter when so much is different and you can find yourself playing with a big lead or defect which affects playcalling.

So if we win the 1st quarter, we win the game? Coach doesnt need to adjust at all? Hard to control the 4th quarter?

Jusr like any sport, success in the 4th quarter, 3rd period 2nd half wins games. Of course you want to get off to good start but you are overstating the first quaryer stat. Who cares.

I literally explained why I posted it in this thread. Nobody made a claim you win the game in the first quarter. I suggest if you want to continue discussions here then actually read what's being said.

First quarter rarely has teams so far ahead/behind where playcalling is impacted in a big way. It's the best indicator of how good coaching is in terms of planning heading into the game.

How about 4th quarter.

You can easily compile that data. But it actually would give less info than first quarter stats. Most points/yards in the 4th could be an indicator of prevent defenses, playing from behind, having a bad D on your team so you need to keep scoring, etc.

The rest of the game, especially the 4th quarter is driven by what happens earlier. It's not a complicated concept.

I'm not saying 4th quarter isn't important, it's obviously incredibly important. I'm saying the equivalent of those stats in the 4th quarter are not as telling for a coach in regards to planning to attack the opposing defenses.
