I'm not sold on this WR group as others are. I'm interested in seeing what Stribling, Watkins, and Bergen can do. Loved the Stribling and Watkins picks. I have no faith in either Pearsall or Kirk staying healthy for a full season. They couldn't even make it through OTAs without getting hurt. I think one of Robinson, Turner, or Cowing make the final 53. Shanahan has shown he'll abandon the 'spread-it-around' approach and lean on his best players when he doesn't trust the talent/experience in the depths. We saw it last year with his dependence on CMC last year. You brought up the 2016 Falcons. They brought in Sanu and Gabriel via free agency after Shanahan had leaned hard on Julio and Freeman in 2015.

Evans can definitely be a guy Shanahan can lean on if things get dire. I don't see Shanahan incorporating more nine routes to accomodate what Evans was used to in Tampa. They don't attack deep verticals often because of Purdy. Evans is capable of running corners, outs, and digs. He'll be asked to run more intermediate posts, short slants, and routes back to the ball (comeback/curl). Evans can get 140+ targets in this offense if things are bad around him. Otherwise, the number number will be sub-100. He's the designated X, so he should still be the top target.
You're entitled to your own opinion but not facts.

Bourne, Ju, Robinson, tonges took on more of the load. We couldn't run the ball to say it was all CMC

CMC had more touches last year than any player in the last 19 seasons, lol. Had almost double the amount of receptions than any other player on the 49ers (6th overall in the NFL).
WR all depends on health, but it's that way for every team. If our WRs stay relatively healthy it's a very good wr group, certainly top half of the league

Touches lol

Brock Purdy touches should double that

It's definitely an improved and deeper group than what was out there last season.

DeMarco Murray had 449 touches in 2014, which was more than CMC at 413. That Cowboys team really only had Murray, Dez, and Witten.

I'm looking more at receiving targets. CMC had 129 receiving targets last year. Players that had 129 or more targets in a Shanahan offense were Andre Johnson (08 HOU, 171 targets), Andre Johnson (09 HOU, 171 targets), Santana Moss (10 WAS, 145 targets), Pierre Garcon (13 WAS, 181 targets), Julio Jones (15 ATL, 203 targets), Julio Jones (16 ATL, 129 targets), George Kittle (18, 136 targets), Christian McCaffrey (25, 129 targets). 2016 Atlanta probably had the most receiving talent of these teams.

Yep, good catch. I overlooked him. Most in the last 11 seasons then.

I know you were focused on the pass game. His impact was outsized there, as it was overall. No surprise given our injuries and lack of overall playmaking among the group of pass catchers.

I do think we're in a much better position going into this season, from a depth perspective.

Shanny's son getting cuck'd wherever he tries to hide
Kyle, it would appear based off BA's ranting, needs to perhaps measure himself a bit when leveling criticism towards his players. These are men playing a game for millions so they have to be able to take hard coaching. That said these are still men and not boys so Kyle has to know how to walk that hard line around hard coaching and managing egos it appears

We're going to go off of BA's opinion?

I guess he could be lying outright, but BA definitely implied he left the team in November because of something Shanahan said.

Might not be a defensible reason for Aiuk's actions, but I'm at least curious what was said. Aiyuk was still hurt so it's hard to think whatever was said amounts to 'tough coaching'. Also hard to see John Lynch going to someone's house uninvited to smooth over a situation revolving tough coaching. Plus, it wouldn't be Aiyuk's first run in with Shanahan in that context (2021 doghouse, the red shorts incident).

Considering Kyle was at least publicly expecting Aiyuk's return at earlier points in the season, even through the fact that the team voided Aiuk's future guarantees before the season, maybe something was said in this context.

Again, not a defense of Aiyuk's action necessarily but definitely interested.

I have a hard time giving credence to anything BA claims regarding the tenor of Kyle's supposed 'talking out the side of his mouth.' Given his declining mental state and insular activity, it's reasonable to guess that BA is deluded and/or has an inflated ego, and any expression of negativity towards his behavior became an affront to his very being. We've seen this play out before with people exhibiting similar public behavior. In essence, always the f**king victim.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of this, but I'm still curious what was said and the context given the timing of it. He wasn't playing, so it wasn't simply getting in his ass about his effort on routes or what shorts he was wearing at practice etc.
