The comparison to Walsh is unfortunate. Shanahan is more comparable to Mariucci. Like Shanahan, Mariucci was good at getting the team into the playoffs but didn't show the top end to close the deal. Getting into the playoffs is great considering the alternative most teams face each year.
Ahmm…no
Mooch took over a HoF QB with elite skill players, great OL and never made it to the NFCCG.
It's another laughable analogy people make in here to diminish what Shanahan has done as a HC. Not all HCs who haven't won the SB are equal.
Shanahan has 9 playoff wins as a HC. He would have several SBs with Steve Young and Jerry Rice and TO.
Or if we look at his coaching career as a whole he could easily be the guy that chokes away SBs with Steve, Jerry and TO.
Not even close, you're really reaching and showing ineptitude towards the game
And yet he's choked away 2 SB's here already.
I think a two-game sample size is a pretty dumb way to critique a head coach but maybe that's just me.
By your logic does that mean 80% of head coaches in the league are 0-0? Is being 0-0 better?
