Who gives a s**t.

At the end of your career no one cares how many COTY awards you have won

I dont understand why it gets so much traction.

Only K-fans care about it.

That's why they're so pissed.

The new age fans are obsessed with participation trophies. Whether it be player/coach of the year, NFC championship banners, second place SB trophies. All considered accomplishments.

Nobody is obsessed with participation trophies. This is simply a ridiculous narrative you and others keep pushing here.

People can think it's stupid that Kyle was 5th in voting given what he accomplished as a HC this season and not cry themselves to sleep that he didn't win the award or think it is the only validation to a HC necessary.

Unlike you however it's a recent development and something fans would like to see to have their HC acknowledged for a good job this season. Nobody is claiming it's more important than winning a SB or a requirement for a HC to be good.

As far as those others things it's ok to acknowledge them and appreciate them. Eddie D did. Bill Walsh did.

You literally on here claiming this season was a rebuild but somehow other fans can't see it as a successful year? Nonsense

The voting in many ways has been a joke this year. I find it ironic that Shanahan has done things at a higher level that other coaches have won the award for but he keeps getting robbed.

Now it's basically a best turnaround award yet Shanahan didn't win it in 2019 when Harbaugh won it despite having Lamar win the league MVP(only to see them choke and go one and done in the playoffs)

Just like he didn't win it in 2022 after leading us to the #2 seed after seeing QB1 and QB2 that year go down only to see Daboll win it. Then dominate the regular season in 2023, only to watch Stefanski win doing something Kyle did in 2022 to a lesser degree.

Hope this pisses Kyle off and fuels him to do even better.

great points, agreed.
Got that many votes cause of his brilliant 4th and 1 call vs Seattle. Lol. This guy is a hot mess under pressure.
There is usually a correlation with COTY winners and getting fired within three years of said win. The guy/team winning has usually overachieved. The pressure increases and there are high expectations. Alot of times, things have gone right in one season that does not translate into another. The HC pays the price. It's like this in other sports too.

Kyle, McVay, and Reid usually do not get COTY because they are always good and it's expected that their teams will be good. In 24 years of being Patriots HC, Belichick won it twice. Everyone knows Bill was still the best HC in the league for about 17 or 18 of those years.

I think it's a dumb way to look at it. Kyle did a better job with what he had at his disposal than Vrabel did. Great turnaround for Patriots? Sure. Is Vrabel the main reason for Maye? No. You could see the potential he had even last year. If the rosters were switched, Vrabel would be on the hot seat and Kyle would likely be getting ready to coach in the SB.

Dude anyone with half a brain knows this whole coaching staff was great this yr. The only people trying to argue it are either trolls or part of the anti-Kyle tribe.

Simply put Kyle Shanahan was robbed of Coach of the Year. That's why I can't stand all these lame awards especially the Pro Bowl.

He'd have to freaking go undefeated and destroy teams like the 2007 Patriots. And even then, he might finish second. The individual awards dont matter but I wish this kind of stuff put a chip on our guys shoulder and they just set out to destroy the league. I don't think we are capable of that, even fully healthy, but perhaps with a great draft, they could run up the score on a few teams.

I like that word overachieve to describe what they have done because they often do fall back to their actual level. And when you look at the COTY list, its typically spotty. The voting system for do many things is stupid.

Agreed.

Look at the names on this list the past two decades:

Mike Smith
Marvin Lewis
Ron Rivera
Jason Garrett
Matt Nagy
Kevin Stefanskix2
Brian Daboll
Dick Jauron won in 2001 lol
Am I the only one who doesn't care about the awards all that much? Literally no fan says "the best moment of my life was that Thursday night when X player won ____ Player of the Year."

Like… they're nice. But I'd trade all the awards and being the media voters' favorite team for a Lombardi trophy. Heck I'd probably trade it all for a playoff win.

We watch this sport hoping for W's on the football field. Not hoping 50 media members who we can't even name vote for somebody.

No you're not the only one. As I said above these awards in no way hit as hard as a SB win. It's simply a nice way to see your players/coaches get acknowledged for a good job.

He was whipping teams in 2019 and 2023 and he still didn't earn it. Despite going to the Super Bowl two different times with different QB's.
