Seattle shut down Kyle and the 49ers offense twice. You could visibly see watching the game that this team had ZERO answers for that Seattle defense. I get it you're a 49ers fan and huge poster here but dude it's okay to acknowledge when a team is simply better than SF or a team was able to shutdown Kyle's offense. Nothing wrong with that. They got their ass whopped and couldn't hang with a very good, fast and physical team in Seattle.

Even if Bosa and Warner are available for that game, maybe we lose by 17 instead of getting blown out. Seattle was a better team. Kyle had two cracks at them. Made no adjustments basically came out with the same gameplan just added a wrinkle — fullback option for Juice

We were missing a lot more than those guys. However the biggest thing people want to ignore is the week 18 game.

It was a 10 point game. A game where we had a fumble by Seattle slip right out of our hands inside their 20 yard line. Likewise we had a pass off CMC's hands on I believe first down bounce off his hands into the defenders for a pick, inside Seattle's 10 yard line.

If you think being healthy for that game wouldn't have swung a 10 point game our way then you're not looking for a real discussion(you're not)

That changes the playoffs in a whole different way. 49ers now get to sit back, rest and then Rams would have to go play in Philly, while Seattle gets to at least expose themselves to injury in a game they would likely run away with against Carolina.

Glad Kyle did not get it. He in no way deserved it. We won with all those injuries not because of his coaching but because we played a weak, 4th place schedule. His game planning for both Seattle games was atrocius!

We played 3 games vs Seattle. The only game out of the 3 where we werent decimated by injuries...we won.

I don't get some of you honestly. Just overreaction after overreaction. The only time all year Seattle or Rams had even a sniff of injury bad luck they looked like totally different teams. Who btw played virtually the same schedule as us.

How convenient you get to laugh away week 1 simply because it's that. Just happens to be the only game vs Seattle where we had the majority of our top players healthy and even that game had Purdy playing with a turf toe a whole 2nd half. Kittle out 3 quarters and Jennings out at the end. Also had a healthy Ricky Pearsall who happened to have a huge game against them.

Does the Rams game still get laughed away by you? When we were missing even more players?

Offense was mostly healthy in the playoff game? Kittle out. Pearsall clearly nowhere near healthy. Just like Kittle wasn't week 18.

Week 1 that defense somehow wasn't up to snuff even though we were missing players but when we're beat to crap and Seattle has plenty of rest and healthy suddenly that's the real example of where both teams stand?

Week 1 we had the advantage their team was just figuring itself out and we had a roster mostly made of players that have been here for years. Yes it's part of the regular season but it doesn't represent the end of the season nor the playoffs as a whole which imo are better examples of what or who you are for the season.

It wasn't what anybody said, it was actually projected to be the easiest schedule. I agree it wasn't the easiest amongst the easy, but it was easy imo and I picked them most games. It's even easier factoring in getting to play Seattle week 1, road Bryce, and Colts when they couldn't win anymore. Those are details sos doesn't take into account

I didn't vote him last, but looking at the other candidates I can see why it ended up that way. You'd have to take that one up with the voters

It wasn't easy compared to the rest of the league. Which is the point…It was right in the middle of SOS this yr

you could literally do exactly what you're trying to do with every single team. "Oh they got Bryce" oh they got a home game here or there…all you're trying to do is form some confirmation bias.

vrabel- One of the easiest SOS in NFL history
BJ-4th easiest SOS this yr
McDonald-same SOS as SF this yr (15th overall)
Cohen-8th easiest SOS this yr.

Bad take that's rooted in your distain for Kyle.

Not to mention three of our losses was with a back up QB. Denver at home with the #2 defense in the league couldn't win with a back up QB. Sure it was a Championship game but his defense gave him every opportunity to win the game.

Vrabel had a 10 game turnaround in one season. I can see why he won.

Right and our team with half the defense being rookies/2nd year players wasn't?

Should we look at last season when the 49ers actually had Nick Bosa available? Or a WR like Brandon Aiyuk? Or does that not count either...

It's not a "best coaching job" award, usually. It's more of a "best new coach turning a team around in their first season with the team" award.

Vrabel may break this streak, but the last time the coach of the year won the Super Bowl was Belichick in 2003. If this award truly went to the best coaching job that shouldn't be the case.

Then why hasn't Shanahan won it then?

Apparently from the guys in here, he's the sole reason we went from a dumpster fire of a team to the SB in 3 years.

One of the rare instances of the voters breaking their rule of thumb is 2019 when John Harbaugh won for having the MVP. Otherwise Kyle wins it that year.

Ever since 2019 the expectation is that Kyle wins a lot of games. So now when he does it's not as "impressive" as a couch in a new place winning a lot of games with a team that was bad the year before.

I mean, Andy Reid has never won the award with the Chiefs despite being to five Super Bowls and winning three. There's no way he wasn't the best HC of at least one of those seasons.

A 5th place finish in COY is a joke.

I dont understand the fascination with the COTY award.

Who gives a s**t.

At the end of your career no one cares how many COTY awards you have won

I dont understand why it gets so much traction.

What??? We had new starters and rookies all over the defense. On offense we pearsall, Jennings who hasn't practiced in a month and idk... Russell Gage?? Beyond that, kittle went out early, Brock got hurt early

Seahawks were going into year 2 with the same defensive personnel, under the same coaches. Insane take lol

Only K-fans care about it.

I'm a fan of Shanahan and I think the COTY award is not all that worthwhile. Considering that none of the prior 8 winners are with the team they won it with means it's worth next to nothing.
