49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

I just know that if he was in the SB, there's no doubt in my mind, he would've won it... the two losses to the Cucks is what done it imo

Now he's just looking like a younger version of Marv Levy in that pic

It's not a "best coaching job" award, usually. It's more of a "best new coach turning a team around in their first season with the team" award.

Vrabel may break this streak, but the last time the coach of the year won the Super Bowl was Belichick in 2003. If this award truly went to the best coaching job that shouldn't be the case.

Then why hasn't Shanahan won it then?

Apparently from the guys in here, he's the sole reason we went from a dumpster fire of a team to the SB in 3 years.
Glad Kyle did not get it. He in no way deserved it. We won with all those injuries not because of his coaching but because we played a weak, 4th place schedule. His game planning for both Seattle games was atrocius!
Not sure what the issue is. Patriots, Jags and Bears had incredible turnarounds and Seattle absolutely destroyed and neutered the SF offense twice. The votes are fine. Doesn't mean Kyle is a s**tty coach

Patriots had a weak schedule just like ours, maybe even easier. I agree with the Seattle part.

I'm just glad Kyle did not get it and did not even come close. I told you guys all year it was not his coaching but rather our schedule.

We played in the most difficult division in football. We played the afc division that sent 2 teams to the playoffs. Our strength of schedule was middle of the pack. I'm not sure why you think we had some type of cupcake schedule
I don't have a problem with him not winning it but he sure as hell is better than 6th place. I'm sure the two ass beatings from Seattle and the terrible performances in those games effected that outcome, but that's BS.

I'm not surprised by his 6th place finish at all. And I guess I was right.

It's pretty bizarre to think that the COY result supports a conclusion that Shanahan's coaching wasn't a primary reason for the team's success this season. Maybe get some proper perspective?

When people brought up Kyle for COY I thought that was crazy. Just saying that the result last night supports my thinking. Which is why I am not surprised by the result at all.
As I have stated numerous times before, when I started the playoffs thread and brought up getting the 1 seed, it was not because I thought we have an elite coach who can coach through the injuries but rather I saw a very easy schedule ahead of us.

I don't think it supports your thinking, at least as presented in the posts you are making. You specifically said: 'I told you guys all year it was not his coaching but rather our schedule.'

This result doesn't support that opinion. He was a finalist for the award. It indicates he had a great season. The result is very far away from demonstrating that people were 'crazy' for thinking he could, or should, win.

Yes and using the fact that he was a finalist for an award that recognizes the best performance in his position as support that he didn't actually do a great job is ass backward, lol.

And that was completely wrong, wasn't it? The strength of schedule you are referring to dated back to last year. It was reassessed in the light of subsequent developments and assessed somewhere in the middle.
