49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

In this world where neither decision provides a tangible advantage. You make the decision based on the specific game… for example, your defense possibly being tired after being on the field for the final possession in the 4th Q, or the strengths of your team, or the strengths of your opponent, or any weather consideration etc. You can factor in the desire to remove decision making on a 4th down in very specific scenarios that could be presented. You can factor the possibility that the game goes to a 3rd possession.

Crazy concept when you can't see the angles, I'm sure.

You're overthinking it for Kyle's sake. At the time of the coin toss all I know is both teams are getting a possession. The team that goes first will basically be taking a shot in the dark and I don't want that to be my offense. The next coach who decides to do that will get ripped the same way Kyle did
Simplify it. I don't want Patrick Mahommes and Andy Reid to have the possession that can end the game. They have proven to come through in the clutch. Had it been a different QB that our defense was hammering all game, maybe a different call. With the 2nd possession I'm telling my offense they will be deciding the game. Not the defense on the 3rd possession.

Nonsense. My thought process here has nothing to do with Kyle Shanahan, other than I dug deep into this scenario because our team faced it in the highest leverage situation.

So if the 9ers had kicked off and the Chiefs had kicked the fg the 9ers are going for it on 4th and 12 from 25 because they dont want Patrick to have the ball again?

Lol, at least he's making the decision based on a factor specific to the actual game. This one being that Mahomes and Andy Reid are mythological creatures in the clutch.
Geez, Louise. Are you guys still talking about who should get the ball first in OT? What is this, like the 6th page of this topic? I guess it really is the offseason.

For real. We've had a whole down season, and then another season that included a playoff win and playoff loss literally just last week and we're still talking about the Super Bowl from two years ago.

Just let it go ffs. If we had won that SB I guarantee you we wouldn't be talking about it today lol this whole thread would be about how we got creamed last week instead.

If they had won that superbowl the Shanahan haters would shut up. But they didn't. So guess what shanahan gets until then?

…maybe if we had kicked first….coulda shoulda woulda. But mastermind Kyle playing 5D chess taking into account probabilities, analytics, tired defenses, and guaranteed stop of Mahomes so we will receive first.

It's gonna get worse if McDonald gets his first or maybe worse if McVay gets his second…..ON OUR HOME FIELD!

I agree. This needs to stop. I'm saying both sides to move the conversation to something current.

We're 2 years beyond that decision and nobody is changing the opinion of the others and none of us are going to change what happened that day.

MOVE THE CONVERSATION TO CURRENT SHANAHAN EVENTS.

It will suck but honestly who cares? It doesn't change anything about Kyle. The SB being at our stadium doesn't mean anything if we're not in it.

Yeah who cares. Some fans take this stuff way too seriously. At the end of the day most of the opposing players and coaches are friends. It's a fraternity. They don't give a flying f**k if some 49er fans are getting their panties all in a bunch because they're winning a SB in their stadium. The players don't give a s**t either.

With this said, it'd be a different story if SB XLVIII was at Levi's. Seeing Pete da Cheat and Dick Sherman yapping it up while trouncing the Broncos after narrowly defeating us in the NFCG would have been torture. Thankfully Levi's didn't exist at that time lol.

Like I said, shanahan supporters better pray the afc wins this year. They'll never live down McVay 2-0 or a Macdonald Super Bowl in year 2.

But the excuses I'm sure are ready

for McVay: give Kyle stafford and he would win 5 superbowls!

I'm trying to think of their excuse for Macdonald winning one in year 2, but I can think of one.
