So Andy would've gone for 4th and 12 from the 30?

If we DEFER and he gets the ball first, the answer is he does NOT. If we receiver, then it depends on the situation. The only guarantee is if he gets the ball first and that's why you defer. So the other team plays only 3 downs instead of 4, and you have the advantage of knowing how aggressive you have to be on that second possession.
holy s**t it's not rocket science folks. There's a reason why every team that wins the toss DEFERS since the new rules have gone into effect. Kyle Shanahan is the only one that hasn't and you guys are spinning that he made the right decision. Seriously

You won. We all agree with you. Next topic

Mahomes got picked twice in our first SB. We picked him off in the second one too. Brady threw a pick 6 in the falcons SB. Kyle just can't get it done. My main problem with Kyle is that he's been in 3 SBs and I can point directly to him for losing 2 of them, and I continue to see him trip up on the same details that cost him in the big games

There was NO possibility of a third possession. I don't know why you keep harping on that.
In fact, Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones confirmed the logic postgame, pointing out how his team had prepared for the new overtime rules and that they were going for two if San Francisco scored a touchdown.
"We talked through this for two weeks," Jones said, via the Ringer's Lindsay Jones. "How we was going to give the ball to the opponent; if they scored, we was going for two at the end of the game. We rehearsed it."
Safety Justin Reid revealed to The Ringer that Kansas City had discussed the new overtime rules as far back as training camp, while several 49ers players acknowledged during the postgame interviews that they weren't aware of the new rules.
Additionally, quarterback Patrick Mahomes confirmed that the Chiefs were going to defer had they won the toss in order to know what was needed from the offense ahead of time.
"Yeah we were going to kick if we got it. They let us know what they were going to do, so we can go for it on that fourth down," Mahomes said after the game.
The day after the Super Bowl, Mahomes shared a similar sentiment to his defensive tackle, acknowledging that the Chiefs were certainly going for two, derailing Shanahan's vision of getting a third possession.
The Chiefs were going for the kill shot whether they received first or second. There was no plan for matching scores. They weren't thinking about holding the Chiefs to 7 or 3, then going for the win. This is all Kyle's thought process, that's why even Chiefs players called him out on it.
"They're crazy," Jones said of the 49ers. "Because the overtime rules has changed where both teams get the ball no matter who scores. So, originally, you want to let the other team get the ball, stop them, holding (to) three, so you know what you got. Or if you stop them, they punt it, then all you have to do is kick three."
Tell me Chris Jones doesn't know what he's talking about, but Kyle does
They weren't guaranteed to score a TD. They weren't guaranteed to score anything at all, just like us. That allows for the possibility of a 3rd possession. The receiving team can even force a 3rd possession, as a worst case scenario, with their decision making in the first possession.
Their plan was to go for two IF we scored a TD, IF we kicked a PAT, and IF they scored a TD on the second possession.
A 3rd possession is a possibility regardless of what each team's goals are. What an absolute dolt.

what bothered me, what KILLS me, is his playcalling in the 4th.
327 left. 2nd 5. He had run 3 straight runs and gained 9, 3 and 5.
he calls two passes. Both incomplete. Preserving time for mahommes and Moody is forced to kick a 53 yarder.
I hate him.![]()

Move up or down and get experienced talent from the college ranks and make a SPLASH in free agency instead of someone who pretty good and not GREAT.

I agree with us not going after quality OL in the draft, but that's also due to our OL also stating that drafting OL early is NOT needed.
Unless you're the Eagles, who keep finding late round OL and they turn them into studs, put philosophy needs to change unless we can poach their OL coaches...
But I also see teams like the Lions and especially the Cowboys who constantly draft OL early, and they have no hardware to show for it as well.

Are you frigging serious with this?
First of all...maybe fact check before you post. The first pass was complete, it just didn't gain anything which means the clock kept running. And I guess you would rather the 49ers run into 10 guys in the box with the 11th player just 10 yards away?
It was a very smart playcall because it's safe, gets the defense to bite on the run fake which they're expecting. The only issue was their defender didn't bite completely and made a tackle on Kittle. The clock still runs but you have an opportunity to pop a big play if they can't make the tackle or fully go for the run fake.
Then of course I'm sure you'd rather the 49ers run on 3rd and 5...or I don't know, maybe Brock makes the right read and throws to the open Aiyuk to get the first down, run the clock out and kick the game winning FG?
This is why it's impossible to take you guys seriously. You can't even be bothered with reality. You make up stuff to complain about.

I've gotta admit, I'm mighty impressed that it's been 48 hours and the usual suspects are still very quiet about the McDermott firing.
If they were consistent at all, they would be bringing it up constantly and talking about how the Bills "actually want to win Super Bowls unlike the 49ers" but they're not. Probably because they know it's a total joke move by the Bills and everyone would see the 49ers firing Kyle as a joke move, too.

I'm sorry but this is a joke. First of all since you're clearly putting blame on him for a 28-3 collapse by the Falcons who don't get to the SB without him, while at the same time giving no blame to the DCs who Kyle had as HC in the SBs.
About as dishonest a take as possible. Every single one of you guys b***hing about Shanahan don't have the same energy for others. You're in here pulling out every possible reason why Harbaugh totally didn't fumble that Ravens SB but Shanahan is directly responsible for losing with the Falcons while the HC with a defensive background gets no blame for blowing a 25 point lead.
Pure cope.

to me, only thing that matters is 9 years in, he hasn't won a Super Bowl. And that Seattles new coach may be winning his first on our field. Or Sean McVay may be getting his second, before Kyle gets his first.
