They've lost 4 NFCCGs? I see you're just making stuff up now lol

Except for 4 out of the 9 years that we have had a losing season. But those don't count.

There you go with the disingenous/bad faith takes again. He inherited a bottom-dwelling roster and had losing seasons in 2017 and 2018. An objective assessment of the 49ers and Shanahan would take those rebuilding years into strong consideration. You're a joke, dude.

Ohh? Did he or did he not have losing seasons in 2017 and 2018?

You can move the goalposts all you want and make excuses but facts are facts.

But feel free to make excuse after excuse. It's what you do.

Or it was a mistake. Will you be ok or should I go edit the post?

OK, so what's your point? Those seasons are a testament to Shanahan's abilities? Give me a break. As someone who claims to have watched football for so long, I'm shocked your density prevents you from understanding the reality of a rebuilding phase, something virtually all teams must go through. Or are you going to fault Shanahan for the doings of Trent Baalke, Chip Kelly and Jim Tomsula, the guys that were actually responsible for the condition of the roster that he inherited?

Just try to be a little objective here. I know it's hard for you. If not, you're just a troll and seriously lacking in reasoning/nuance. Corny.

I see your point, there are plenty of webzoners that have views when it comes to players and coaches that align with participation trophies more than championships. No question.

If it comes down to if you've won a SB ring or not, then you're gonna be upset 99% of the time. 40% of the league hasn't even won one SB. The list of HCs with a ring isn't substantial.

Took Andy 20 yrs as a HC to win a ring. I'm not saying we need to hold onto Kyle no matter what, but this constant battle where you can only be a great HC if you win one more game is just weird to me. I don't think Doug Peterson is a better HC than Kyle.

But that is the goal. Win a SB, nothing else. Yes, those moments are few and some none but that is the goal. If it werent no one would get fired and football would be a utopia. Not worth watching.

We all understand the goal. Do you watch the 49ers play football during the season or do you basically just tune in when they make the SB to see if they'll win it?

Does the journey not matter? Do you not enjoy meaningful wins? You can't win the SB if you don't make the playoffs. You can't win the SB if you don't win at least 2 games in the playoffs and you can't win the SB if you're not in the SB to play that game.

Acting like getting to the SB isn't any accomplishment worth being proud of is dumb IMO. You can be disappointed not to get that final win but acting like a SB losing season is the same, if not worse than a 4-13 season is insanity IMO.

I dont think "we all do understand the goal"

I have enjoyed this season and the journey does matter but eventually the journey needs to end with a SB.

Losing a SB is devastating. Just look at the teams record the following year. Generally not great.

The way we lost agsinst Balt and KCx2 was worst then a 4 -12 record. The losing record doesnt hold expectations.

Really? Who here doesn't want the team to win a SB?

Losing a SB is devastating but you don't get to choose how the season ends before it starts. As a fan what do you enjoy more as it's happening? That 4-12/13 record or watching the team make the SB...even if it's to lose it in the end. Sure the result is the same - failure to win it all.

And I'm sorry but your last comment just sounds like loser talk to me. Which I find ironic since we hear all the time how "2nd place is for the losers" having a losing record not hold expectations is that and more.

As NY mentioned above when you're going through those types of seasons, yes maybe the draft is more fun but you don't typically have a lot of continuity happening. New coaches, new systems and roster turnover.

No thanks. I'll take the consistency of winning lots of games and IMO that improves the odds of finishing with the W in the post season.

IDGAF. Call it what you want. You have proven to be disingenous in many of your takes on this subject.

You just dont get it.
i think I figured out why the trolls are so pissed this season. It's because they totally expected and were hoping this would be a losing season so they could reinforce the hatred towards the coach and a cause for the team firing him. It's clear as day they are not happy with the team overachieving and fighting.

100%. So now they back themselves into the 9ers and Jets season are the same corner.
There's also no planet where the 3 sb losses were worse than 2004 or 2005.

It's not so much that they hate Kyle Shanahan. It's just that they want to be right.
They want to come to this forum and have peasants like me telling them "Wow, you were right. You knew it. I should have listened to you.".
At this point it's just an ego trip because why would you be mad about a coach and a team having a season like that?
I'm probably dumb but if someone had told me before week 1 that the two stars of the defense would almost miss all the season, the starting QB would play half the season, and almost everyone else will be injured, I would have had a hard time believing the Niners would have finished with a 12-5 record.

Like a typo mistake? Or did you genuinely not know Kyle's record in the NFCCG?

Lol....You got me. I am actually a closet Jets fan. Go Jets!

Its amazing ..........such a stupid premise of an agrument gets people all wound up.

This isnt about which is worst..... SB lose or a losing season cause neither is not desirable or a choice for that matter. My god.

Absolutely this, great shout.
My only concern is losing Saleh. It's obvious with him Kyle can focus on the offense/ST misc, etc. more. If Saleh departs we lose that dynamic again.
