People who were paying attention always knew this season was going to be a challenge and were just hoping to see some signs of improvement, which I think there clearly have been. Seems to me that this season was about evaluating the roster under game conditions and making decisions about what guys on the team were gong to be part of the future and what guys weren't. Shanahan and Lynch have been ruthless about getting rid of guys that they don't believe will be part of that future, The offense has shown plenty of indications that it is heading in the right direction and the defense is starting to flash a bit as well. Injuries and inexperience, on all levels, have hampered the process a bit but it seems to me that there is a lot to be encouraged about. Got to see a glimpse of Jimmy G yesterday and certainly that is a situation that looks like it has some potential.

Relax guys, he's saving the good plays/schemes for next season. Just like that time AA saved all his pass rush moves for the regular season.
remember in the pre season when we sucked..
the secondary will be better
the on line will be better
the defense will be better
we will unleash the hoyer offense beast
we will tackle better when the regular season starts
we have the best front 7 in football and we are vanilla for a reason
i understand we have the injury excuses and the young players excuses and the fans who are not really fans cuz they are upset we have one win excuses
I love it when they say we are saving plays for the regular season. And then regular season comes and we run the wrong routes, drop balls, get penalized and settle for field goals instead of TDs.
Practice makes perfect.
While I will continue to root for the team to win every Sunday I am honestly not concerned at all about their record this year. They still need some key pieces to help pull this thing together and it seems to me that finishing near the bottom of the standings could have some benefits in terms of the draft. If the pick is high enough there is always a chance they can parlay that into some additional picks which would give them some more flexibility. But then of course they will have to deliver on those picks. Foster, Witherspoon, Brieda, Beathard, Colbert, Kittle , Taylor, Magnuson, and Solomon all seem to be guys that can play in this league at least at some level. That's not a bad start for your first draft. They were somewhat less successful in their free agent acquisitions but all of those guys were brought in for a reason and when they didn't work out they got rid of them. Garcon was certainly worth the investment and Goodwin, Mitchell and Juszczyk have certainly flashed. Even Fusco has had some games where he has been graded out pretty well by PFF, for whatever that is worth. Hopefully they can get through the rest of the year without any major injuries and continue to lay the groundwork for 2018, where I think the stakes will be a bit higher and the expectations a bit more justified.
