I don't think he's top 3. I'd say he's a tier 2 coach with the potential to be a tier 1 coach if he can get out of his own head. Same, he's doing the best he can. The Rams were the #1 defense according to a lot of analytics and he found ways to move the ball against them and made it easy for Mac (who still managed to f**k it up in the end.)

He's not at fault for all of the injuries and the poor ingredients that the FO has given him.

So last year was derailed by injuries. This year was derailed by injuries. What happens next year?

ENOUGH.

I've been ragging on Kyle for 8 years. Hes delivered nothing. No championship. Just losing after losing. I told everyone trey Lance was a huge f**king bust when he was drafted. You all shat on me. I've been right from the very start. Now Mcvay has a superbowl under his belt and may very well be on his way to #2. Now the Seahawks look like juggernauts in year #2 with the same qb kyle shipped off.

Shanny is, for all intents and purposes, the head of the FO, of course he's at fault.

He's the head coach. He might have some input in the offseason on what he's looking for, like any HC, but during the season he's focused on preparing for the next game.

I guess he forgot that ther49ers have been in the NFC title game 4 tomes and won it twice. Yes the Rams won a SB but they haven't been as competiive as the 49ers when the Niners are healthy. Look at today's game. The Niners even with all the injuries were able to move the ball on the Rams. The defense wa sthe issue and that's not what Kyle coaches.

Kyle called a 4 and 1 off tackle sweep with cmc doomed from the start and refuses to mix brian robinson in when he's a far better downhill runner.

he sucks in those moments. That… and not going for it before halftime just show he's a p***y who can't make it happen when it's on the line. No one woulda faulted him for going for it on 4th and 7 with 20 sec left in the first half and the chance for a fg and to go down 11 (or even 7) before half instead of 14.

that sends a message of resignation and inferiority to the team and fans.

and when he does get the balls, he doesnt have the brains (see 4th and 1 cmc run that never works instead of running b rob or getting a bootleg with some shallow outs).

also where is the presnap motion or any sort of creativity?

i know theyre hurt—no one is discounting that— but these are the same things that plague shanahan when he has the best roster on O and D in the league (and best niner roster since 1994) and still can't win the super bowl.

The niners shoulda done to the chiefs what the eagles did (or at minimum, just won the game fairly outright).

they cant move on from shanny because they wont find something better. And that sucks when the coach you have isnt good enough.

it's a lost season! Go for broke! Take shots! Play watkins and robinson. What are we doing
