The seahawks were on a short week also.

Just remember this is still the guy who couldn't run the clock out up 25 points with one quarter to play. He also gave hoyer 5 games before realizing he wasn't the answer when it was obvious by game 3.

It seems there are only 2 camps. Those that see him as the savior and those that see him as having one of the biggest meltdowns offensively of all time.

He lies somewhere in between and time will tell if he's actually a good coach or not. At time play calling has looked decent and we have been competitive and at other times we have been completely outmatched.

This is complete bull. You are prolly one of the guys swinging from the rafters shouting "playing to lose" or playing scared when we did that. He called plays all season that way and they were one of the best offenses statistically of all time. The players have to make the plays. Kyle is doing whats best for Jimmy G and the niners long term. Just because you cant see past a couple weeks doesnt mean the rest of us are delusional in our appreciation of Kyle. Which you insinuate in your post. When we were outmatched it was on the roster. Kyle is and has been a great coach so far.
Brought this up in Ridley thread, but want the webzone addicts opinion.

Who yall think is best fit opposite Garcon, and add to Goodwin,Taylor core? Who yall think Shanny is intrigued with?

John Brown
Jarvis Landry
Allen Robinson
Devante Adams
Paul Richardson
Sammy Watkins
Alshon Jeffery
Marqise Lee
Jordan Matthews
Dontrelle Inman

Washington thought that Norv was the saviour. Hell, even SD gave him a stacked team for him to prove again that he should have stuck to coordinator. Wade Phillips is a great DC and a rubbish HC. Heck, when I was living in Philly in the 90s I remember their fans (yes, those Philly fans, the ones whose sentences tend to start with "Booooo!" or "You suck...") being excited about Ray Rhodes. Granted, he followed the legendary Rich Kotite, so even he was an improvement.

Shanahan has showed us exactly zero so far. Does this mean "fire him"? Of course not, for all the good reasons put forward here. But is he the saviour? On actual evidence, rather than the influence of kool-aid, no he's not. So far. I wish people should stop the Bill Walsh First Year comparisons. Geniuses (the real version) are rare. There is a greater chance that Shanahan is Norv 2.0 rather than Walsh 2.0. Simple probability says so.

Results have been, frankly, pathetic so far. Thanks heavens for the Browns being the Browns, so we don't stand out to ridicule even more. At present, the right reaction to the pathetic shower that he has trot out to the field every week is to tap our collective feet impatiently and give him a collective stern look. We can also roll our eyes skyward and tut, in the best Victorian British way. Come this point next year however, if we are 3-8 or worse, then yes, it will be time to go all Philly-Fan on him. I mean, it's not as if he's not getting paid.

Yeah have fun being the "smart guy" who tempers all expectations and never gets excited about anything. Must be a fun life to live. It just grows like an infection. This "im going to say negative things about a team im supposedly a fan of because they have 1 win." How long did it take you guys to figure out that were a bad team? Does it make you feel smart pointing out obvious crap over and over. Why dont you or any of the haters ever point out what exactly Kyle should be doing. Its always "Kyle isn't doing a good job" "Well what should he be doing instead?" And they disappear. I like your straw man argument to. Of course he's not Bill Walsh hes Kyle Shanahan and he's doing great. Why is the side of the fan base who try to concentrate on the positive you know like a fan of a team considered delusional.

Around July for me - check the fools' gold thread. Not that it matters: I'd much rather be wrong and celebrate victories (the real, not the moral, sort).

Win. I don't care how, just win. Manage to do what other teams which are also low on talent have done (NYJ, Indianapolis, even Miami). Shanahan gets several million dollars a year to figure out how.

Positive and negative are meaningless terms. As is questioning other people's fandom (we're all here, aren't we? We must be fans).

I want a successful and exciting team. So far I am watching a bunch of boring losers every Sunday. Why should I be "positive"? Why should I have "faith" in anything? The proof is on the field. We suck. Hopefully next year it will be better. It'd better be.

Those teams you're referring to have a whopping two more wins then us lol. You telling me the colts/phins/Jets are in a much better situation long term vs SF? I don't f**king think so .

You're also watching a ton of rookies and 3 string guys, IR has killed this team.

Good call NY!

These guys don't get it and never will.

After the Baalke debacle they think we should be competitive and win in year one w/out the pains of a rebuild.

Pathetic.

This is Year One of the rebuild and IMO it will be in Year Three that we make the playoffs.

I'll start with 2 more wins, thank you, then take it from there. Hell, I'll start with some first downs. For long term, I don't know. I don't see any obvious long term advantage we have over any of those teams. I don't see any obvious advantages we have over any team not named the Browns. There are assets we do have of course (high draft pick, tons of cap space) - but we had those last year too. How are we obviously ahead of the Jets long term? I see the same crappiness across the board in both cases. OK, perhaps we have something at QB (who knows?), and perhaps we draft someone better since we will have an earlier pick. But other than that?

I honestly can't see how I can spin 1-10 into a positive narrative. Well, I guess there's the "we're not the Browns" one. Fair enough. Beyond that, what? IR? We were losing with those players playing, too. It's not like all of them went to the IR in Week 1.

Let's get some things straight here: I was not expecting playoffs this year, nor am I annoyed because we're not going. And (for what seems to be the 1000th time), I'm not saying we should fire Shanahan either. But there is a little distance between that position and being satisfied with a 1-10, boring, generally incompetent team, and a blind faith in the "genius" of our coach. I am also repeating for the 100th time: Kelly was also a "genius". Blimey, even Erickson came highly touted, as did Nolan. I remember the zone being ecstatic for Singletary's "toughness" and that silly Nutcracker Suite, or whatever his conditioning publicity stunt was called. Why is Shanahan necessarily going to be better than this? Because Jimmy Johnson went 1-15 30 years ago? I'm sure we can get examples of coaches who went 1-15 in their first year, and kept being awful.

What I've been trying to say all this while is: coaches should be evaluated on results, not hunches, nor "faith". They have to earn our "faith".

Our results have been dire, across the board. If that makes you happy, I'm glad for you.
Another unimpressive performance by KS.... Given two weeks of preparation, getting his team ready to play a home game against a Seahawks team on a short week with a depleted secondary was too much to ask.... not sure what I saw out there yesterday....besides a guy that has received a free pass and is absolutely intent on using it.

My point is you continue to push negativity out there with no real criticisms. You have no clue what Kyle should or should have done to get those extra wins. Kyle alao has a track record which you choose to ignore. Hes an offensive guru not a fake one like Kelly either. You post no serious argument because you know it will get picked apart. You are providing nothing to this board by whining about the record. So once again what is Shanny supposed to do in your opinion to eek out more wins? Trade for a better Qb, check. Not much else he and Lynch can do without another off season.

Give Seahawks credit for having a depleted secondary yet s**t on our head coach whos whole team is depleted. Makes sense for a niner fan to do that.

If only we had a depleted roster excuse

I'm not sure. We had Garcon and Goodwin. Rams have Watkins and Jones Jr. Hyde vs Gurley. Not a vast difference between weapons but Goff is ripping it apart.

If you take into account the quality of players lost, the Seahawks have a lot worse injuries than we do.

Do you even pay attention to the other teams you'd rather we'd be? Gase imo has lost that team and shipped off one of his best offensive players. They have next to nothing in cap space and could very well lose Landry. Their 21st in total D and have money thrown into it all over the place. They're getting worse not better.

The jet's have a 38 yr old QB and a bunch of s**t behind him...there's zero answers at the most important position in sports for them. They have some solid pieces on defense but outside of that nothing.

The colts? What the hell do they have? Andrew Luck? A owner that lied to the whole fan base about him being ready to play so he could sell tickets? They're gonna fire their HC and have no direction at all.

How about you stop being a one week fan, look at the big picture instead of complaining. SO if they win two more games you'll be just peachy? I mean were we supposed to be Seattle? We're rolling out our 4th string FS and a bunch of banged up rookies all over the place. At one pt in the game we had two UDFA as our starting tackles.

Walsh went 2-14....I'm assuming you had no faith there either

I'm not happy with losing BUT I see a plan, something that sure as s**t couldn't have been said since 2014. IF you want to be doom and gloom week to week that's fine, good football teams weren't built in half a season.

I know he's for sure calling all his plays lol....I mean the read option is totally one of his bread and butter plays for sure Kyle can only polish up a turd so much.
