49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

To me, the 49ers lost two SBs to KC because of referee favoritism. The Eagles beat the Chiefs because they built the OL in a way that allowed them to move the ball on that defense more efficiently than we do against KC.

That's my only real criticism with Kyle, in that I get he can produce gourmet meals with average groceries while others need Whole Foods and Trader Joes, but at a certain point a real OL can do so much to get you over the top. CMC running behind an elite OL would be devastating, and IDGAF how good Spagnuolo is, he wouldn't be able to stop that.

Kyle should really consider what a great OL can do. I understand trying to cut costs because he can scheme outside zone with the Raheem Mosterts and Jeffrey Wilsons of the world, and get WRs open fast enough that Jimmy G and Purdy can get the ball to them fast.

But now that we've seen how non dominant this offense has been in February twice in 4 years, it's time to invest more in an OL that can carry beyond scheme. What made Barkley and the Eagles so tough to stop is that they can run power and outside zone, not just outside zone. I wager CMC is still better than Barkley as an RB under similar circumstances (can definitely play receiver a lot better).

Kyle built his entire reputation around the run game, he needs to go all in on it. Kills me that the Eagles won more with lesser coaching......

I agree with you, but I'd say "lesser coaching but better drafting".

Drafting matters. This team misses a lot, trades away lots of picks and rarely picks offensive line high. You can't say the same for the Eagles on those categories.
"The anti-San Francisco" lol

Yep, so many bumbles from the FO, that it is ridiculous.
"Anti 49ers" can't say they are wrong. Not a lot of young legit talent on this team.

Matt Lefluer is 0-3 against Kyle Shannahan and the 49ers in playoff games, has 0 SB wins or appearances in 6 years including a time where he had a HOF QB, but now, in Week 2, it's time to talk s**t anonymously. Yeah, ok.

The Eagles haven't been drafting OL really high. They used a 2nd round pick in 2021 and again in 2022 then a 3rd rounder in 2023. 2024 was a 5th rounder ans 2025 they used a 6th rounder. The 49ers have drafted 7 OL players in that same period including a 2nd and a 3rd round pick. The big difference is the Eagles were drafting earlier in the rounds back in 2021 because they weren't as good as the Niners and of course the Niners lost 2 firsts and a second in the Lance deal.
This is the team you get when your hubris tells you to take a lesser player in a position you prefer over the BPA, as Lynch acknowledges other teams do. This regime has run it's course. We aren't winning any Super Bowls with a top play caller and a weak team. Haven't yet, and now people are ready for us.

Yeah, it's pretty dumb. Especially when Kyle's injured QB is 25 and hardly one of the old injured vets being referenced.

I agree completely.
I'm sure this question has been asked a billion times but fir those of you wanting to move on from Kyle what exactly would be your succession plan?
Ben Johnson last year. Now he's stuck with Caleb Williams.

I can see the argument

We got to get past that argument. It's a losing argument. It says by default Shany is the only person who can coach this team. You can never find anything better. You have to stick with him. That's what Jed does and what got us into this mess. We need to think bigger. There are more possibilities out there.

Have to accept that it's far more likely we would get worse not better.

I wonder why you'd want to get past this argument…
