49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Kyle will get a new DC who bows to him in reverence.

That is the first key selection criteria on the new DC job specification.

they wouldn't put up with his BS. He's like Mike Nolan, he's gonna want a yes man that will go down with his ship that sinks every year.

Didn't he have Sing and Tomsula on the staff?

This firing was not for the Super Bowl performance but rather overall the step back the defense took this year. I don't think Kyle and Steve ever hit it off and I don't think the defensive leaders ever did either. I assume they expected more from Wilks then what was delivered. Tough job for Wilks though coming into a situation with a top 3 defense in the league and expect to improve upon it. They did give him the resources with the signing of Hargraves and C Young.

But we will spin it as Wilks being the scapegoat.

Kyle hired him because he wanted someone he could get 3rd round pick for. Instead of someone already fit for his system. Tough situation for Wilks because they wanted him to adjust to what was already here....they already had a vision here. For Wilks it was a great opportunity with a talented roster. Don't blame him for taking it.

I think he's the scapegoat and that he needed to be fired. Scapegoat in the sense that this takes a ton of conversation away from KS. But the guy needed to go. His scheme and philosophy just wasn't working. After the bye week I think KS made him run DR/Salehs defense. And after a few weeks of that, the defense just starting falling apart. I bet all the players and guys in the building could feel the tension, and probably led to a lack of full bye into Wilks's scheme. And probably why guys on defense were playing inspired ball for the full game later in the season.

dude... Sing is just like Nolan.. an empty suit. Talks loud, to distract from his lack of head coaching abilities.

Sing was not a yes's man, he was all fire. Not a great HC but he wasn't a p***y.

SMDH. So he should fire himself for finishing second. No. You fire the guys who come in bottom, not the guy who goes all the way but falls at the last hurdle. Surely this is obvious?
If he hire Belichick as DC, Kyle should move back to the booth.
He's not infallible, but any fan wanting Shanah fired is a fool and I question their football intelligence. He's more secure than the vast majority of coaches in the NFL so strap on, cause it's gonna be a while before you're going to see a 49ers team coached by someone else.

fake fire and the players saw through it... even Troy Smith stood up to him, and Sing couldn't believe it... he thought he could just yell at him and he'd fall in line..but nope, and players had to separate them. One player even looked at Sing like "WTF?".
No way Belichick gets hired as DC. Fan base would want him as HC as soon as the team struggles. Kyle wouldn't be able to handle a personality like that. Not sure Belichick, a 6x SB champ, would want a coach who has won nothing as his boss.

BTW, how many coordinators does Kyle get to go through?
Yes Kyle should stay but he might also think about hiring an OC as well.

Let him be the overseer of the whole program

That is what is missing atm.
