49ers offensive 1st quarter lost them the game. Punt off the foot be damned. This was shaping up to be a 49er blowout had they scored on those first 2 drives

Kris might be one of the people who didn't work well with Wilks. I could see Kocerek saying the scheme was limiting his DL talent.

They gave up 300 yards in the second half. Pretty much any DC would lose their job after that.

The coverage certainly was. When there's an open dumpoff available CONSTANTLY it doesn't allow for pressure to get there.

They didn't. But they recovered all but one of the balls on the ground. Any of those go the other way and the 9ers mightve won.

Now that I think about it, it's a combination of things. special teams, turnovers, bad offensive play calling at the end.

Not running the ball at least one time before the two minute warning in the 4th quarter. Let your best players win. Have CMC run behind KJ and Williams to the left.

Not buttoning up the protections and allowing free runs to Purdy. 3rd and 5 after the 4th quarter 2 minute warning with the game on the line and maybe it's not so much as setting the proper protection than it is not having a legit hot route. Either aiyuk in the slot or CMC to the right. Maybe that comes with experience from Purdy but the truly best passing offenses have that.

And in OT they showed blitz, brang the blitz but the best blitzes are the ones that don't like like a blitz pre snap. If you're going to line up like that with the game on the line against the chiefs offense, pull the would be blitzes back into coverage. That's what romo was saying on t.v. If you blitz against guys like Mahomes with a buttoned up OL, the best blitzes are the ones that don't look like a blitz pre snap. Or a delayed blitz. They didn't have one of those? Really?

No the defense, even with all that the offense scored when it mattered the most, twice!!. Wilks defense let them dink and donk to tie, Then the winning touchdown after sf took the lead both times. Don't tell me about being tired. Both defenses were on the field alot in this game. You could also argue the Chiefs defense should have been more tired becuse they blitzed all night.

This firing was not for the Super Bowl performance but rather overall the step back the defense took this year. I don't think Kyle and Steve ever hit it off and I don't think the defensive leaders ever did either. I assume they expected more from Wilks then what was delivered. Tough job for Wilks though coming into a situation with a top 3 defense in the league and expect to improve upon it. They did give him the resources with the signing of Hargraves and C Young.

But we will spin it as Wilks being the scapegoat.

no way Kyle hires personalities like Vrabel and Belichick... they ain't pussies!

they wouldn't put up with his BS. He's like Mike Nolan, he's gonna want a yes man that will go down with his ship that sinks every year.

Hes not the one calling the plays. The DL had a good year in spite of the vanilla way they were used most of thr time.
