You don't put the 22 year old in that position to make that decision... or you tell him to hand it off each time, like Harbs did with Kap and Gore. Harbs protected Kap... if they had him running on designed runs it was to the outside. If it were designed up the middle, it was after they spread out the defense on a QB draw.
From the impression Kyle gave at the press conference, he plans to still do that next year multiple times a game... for 17 games a season.
I know some here don't like Trey, but for what's best for him and these fans... I think Trey's pops needs to speak up and try to get Trey out of here. I'm sure a team would trade for him, won't be what we gave up... but hey get Kyle a QB that is not "explosive"... so Kyle calls normal plays for a QB.
Make what decision? A read play? Dude it's not rocket science. That play is run on the regular across the league every week. It's run in college even more. It was the right read. He just got rolled up.
Again there's no one to blame here my dude. Sometimes football players get rolled up by other football players near the LOS. s**tty situation and I feel for the kid. It wasn't some risky play.

The play Trey got hurt on was a designed QB run, it was not an option. It was not a 'zone read", there was no zone blocking and didn't even read the playside DE because if he did he should have given the ball to the back during the mesh, the end stayed home and slow played and the rule for the QB there is to give... the blocking scheme was counter trey, the mesh was used to hold the backside DE so he wouldn't crash down and blow up the play when he was the puller... ya, counter trey is somewhat ironic, but there was no zone blocking in this play and it was not an option... just watch the backside tackles and guard pull to the point of attack, and the other lineman block down, classic CT scheme... Shanny ran TL like he was a running back... almost as if he didn't care if the kid got hurt

More like NY searching for excuses whenever Shanahan f**ks up.
