49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

At that point in his career if "matty ice" hasn't figured out how to manage clock then no amount of coaching is going to help him. Unless managing clock is a completely new concept and this was Ryan's first game having to do it.

Ryan had no problem blaming everything on Kyle after the game, maybe he needs to man up and admit he chocked.

If a coach needs to be blamed then put it on Quinn. He's the head coach and is responsible for everything right?
is this true?

In one of the interviews after the game Ryan was asked about the lack of audibles in the second half with the pats coming back. He said the plays came in late and there was no time to change the play.

Falcons defense blew it. Dan Quinn isn't a good HC and [dumb] fans won't ever realize or admit that.

Atlanta fired their OC...the offense / key weapons = never been the same since Shanny split.

Matt Ryan genuinely is a choker, he turns over the ball in big moments / games. Shanny gets the blame for lame duck HC / Ryan

Excellent post LVJay!

Ryan is no leader. Those two won't get back to a SB together imo. Shanny will... now that he isn't held back by those losers.

If you look at this Super Bowl Brady actually walked up to Bill and said kick the field goal. 40 yarder, 10 point game. It's ball game.

Quinn, Shanny, Ryan none of them stepped up and understood the moment. They were all playing too aggressive in fear that Tom was going to make a miraculous comeback. Instead they handed it to him.

This is a good assessment.

I mean you also had NE's defense doing whatever they wanted and kept the great McVay to 3 pts....you couldn't say that in the ATL game. not really the same imo.

Here, we run a 3 TE set with the strong side to the right. We're going to run a stretch zone run play to the strong side. Note, #40, the weakside backer. He attacks this run really aggressively and prevents a TD.

Notice how not even our fastest O-lineman, Joe Staley, is able to get to him on the 2nd level because he's pursuing so aggressively.

The very next play Kyle comes out in the same formation but flipped to the field side to give the appearance that he's trying to hit that run again to the wide side of the field. DET tries to take this play away by formation and it leaves the ultra aggressive WLB as the lone LB in the middle of the field.

He then uses #40's aggressiveness against him. Shanny then puts Celek in the spot vacated by the WLB. Bam TD.

That's really great that he saw that LB playing that aggressive and was able to nail him on the very next playcall. Most playcallers are 2 or 3 plays down the line as they're calling it, which I'm sure Shanny is at times but he also has the wherewithal to see something like that and immediately take advantage.

That's what I'm talking about! in game adjustments

Might've stemmed from dealing with Rueben Fosters aggressiveness when he was in camp lol

Boy, Jimmy's quickie release is so sweet. Please don't get injured again Jimmy. Maybe Shanny can laid 30pts on Belichick next time and win the SB with Jimmy.

BB,'I gave you Jimmy G', devil gets the last laugh
He has all the knowledge as far as X's and O's. I think as he gets more comfortable in the role and gets more talented players and coaches around him we will see a very good team that can compete every year. This is why I'm happy they gave him and Lynch the long contract so they have a chance to grow together.

Has no one actually played football in this forum?? I've seen high school coaches manipulate defenses like that not impressive.

Again no one has ever questioned Kyles offensive IQ, its being a HC that's he's trash at.

In other words. Using a run play to set up a play action pass. Like every team ever.

This is the truth, the average high school HC has guys watching DEs and LBs for tendencies to expoit. Only a novice would be impressed by that.

Calling your fellow posters novices is unpleasant and unnecessary. And rather arrogant.

That s**t never works in Madden.

And so is calling a 2nd year head coach trash. When you look at how he handled all the injuries and took an UFA QB and made him look pretty good I think calling him trash is way off base. We at least need to see how he does with a roster that stays mostly intact and another draft. Remember this team was really bad when he came in.
