"In two games against the Crimson Tide, both national title matchups, Watson has amassed 941 yards of total offense, thrown seven touchdowns, and just one interception against an Alabama defense that was in the discussion as one of the best ever. "You watch what he's done -- just putting a team on his shoulders and taking down a great champion," 49ers general manager John Lynch said on Thursday while addressing the media in Indianapolis."

Big game performer, all the tools, cool under pressure. Watson is the QB of the future. passing on this dude would be stupid. people are saying no qb is worth a top 10, if they knew what they were talking about they would be employed by an nfl team. QB is our most glaring need and we have a chance to take the best in the draft who has proven it time and time again.

I don't watch much college football, but I hear Watson get criticism for his accuracy. It doesn't show in his completion percentage, but he did throw 17 interceptions last season, which concerns me a little bit.

He certainly has upside but I can easily see him not excelling to his potential in the NFL. If we trade down several spots and he's still there though I wouldn't mind taking him.

Gotta think that the FO is gonna say that They are interested in everybody ,because we need a big infusion of talent almost everywhere on this team. IN short we are interested because we gotta be...

Yup, because its true. We really do need help everywhere. Some spots are in better shapes than others, but pretty much every positional group could be upgraded.

Cliffs Notes: - Kaep doesn't fit Shanahan's offense and both parties know it. Shanahan's highly complex offense takes precision with footwork, needs to be accurate, and needs to know where all of the receivers are. Said Matt Ryan, one of the smartest QB's in the league took 2 years to learn Shanahan's offense.
- Watson = Teddy Bridgewater. Watson has shown up in big games.
- Kizer is one of the best throwers in the draft but he has "slow eyes"
- Mahomes is NOT a good fit for Shanahan's offense
- Trubisky is a shotgun QB that may take several years to learn to Shanahan's offense

After watching the top 4 QBs I have Trubisky and Mahomes as the only two I would trust to end up a quality starter for us. I watched tape on Peterman and to me he just looks like "a guy"--arm talent not special and his release is kind of slow. Trubisky looks the most ready to step up and play right away, but Mahomes has the clear highest ceiling imo -- he actually does look like Favre in his Southern Miss days.

Thanks for the cliff notes. It was a really informative interview. Agreed with his take on the QBs. Kap not a good fit for the offense. Interesting he thought Mahomes would fit well. I could see him potentially being a good fit, but he'll need time adjusting from an air-raid offense, and has to clean up his dropback. His feet are all over the place. That won't fly in a timing based passing attack from under center.

That's wrong Cosell said Mahomes ISN'T a fit for Shanahan's offense

Okay that makes more sense to me. I was going to go back and re-listen to the interview. Not saying Mahomes can't be good in this scheme, but he's a pretty big project in my eyes. You never really know how these guys will develop. This year I'm highly skeptical of the big arm guys like Mahomes and Kizer. Get me a lesser athlete who's a more polished passer.

To me, Cosell is legit and has objectively analyzed our games and individual players. He has never been shy about pointing out Kaep's deficiencies. I too wish he would have elaborated on Mahomes, especially since air raid qb's like Goff have struggled. Also, his footwork like you mentioned. I guess Cosell thinks Mahomes can fix that.

Yeah I agree

Oops, gonna have to edit my initial post. Yes, he basically said even if Mahomes is drafted in the 2nd round, Cosell doesn't think stylistically Mahomes is a good fit for Shanny's offense.
