I wouldn't want Romo to come here, we gotta worry about him staying healthy. I would much rather bring in Hoyer or Schaub.

I don't see Romo coming here, but if he did I would be ok with it.

I'd rather have Kap than Romo. At least we know Kap will make it a full season without a strong gust of wind coming through and shattering a rib.

I really believe Shanahan wants to either trade for Cousins or pick up an inexpensive bridge to next year and draft a QB after the first round. Then they would be able to go after Cousins next year and have a young developmental guy.
Edit: Of course, they should and are kicking all tires!

We don't know that Kap will play a complete season either at this point. Just saying. He hasn't since 2014.

I think regardless of whether or not we trade for a QB, Hoyer will be a 49er next season. It just makes too much sense.
If we can't get Cousins or Garropolo in a trade, then we draft a rookie to battle it out with Hoyer in camp.

If that happens I pray that the rookie wins.

Fair point, but when was the last time Romo made it 16 games?

I agree. It'd be nice to get Cousins this year, but our best play may be to wait until next year to sign him as an UFA. No draft compensation required.
In the meantime we can get a short-term starter for just 2017 through Free Agency, like a Brian Hoyer, and draft a QB in Rd 2 or 3 to develop. Then in 2018 re-evaluate the position and see if it makes sense to pursue Cousins or roll with the guy we drafted.

screw it bring in Romo if it's a team friendly deal....I don't see him being interested at all though.
Like I said every single QB that is or might be available will be connected to us...not something to get worked up over

It was the same collar bone and they rushed him back....I would imagine with a year off it is healed.

Just pointing out that depending on a guy purely because you assume he is more durable, when he hasn't been for a couple of years now, doesn't make sense to me. I know Romo's history. Good and bad. And Kap's . I don't think Romo is coming here. But if he did I would certainly rather have him as a bridge than Kap.

I agree with you. But I have a change of heart and I don't think a trade would involve swapping 1st round picks. I think Shanahan and Lynch will throw in a 2nd round pick and some mid to late round picks and Washington can either take it or leave it. If I were Washington I'd take anything over a 3rd round pick and be done with it, they're in danger of getting just a 3rd round comp pick. But if a trade can't be done, it's Schaub or Hoyer and wait it out for Cousins. I just don't see Lynch and Shanahan wasting an opportunity to get a QB they're not only familiar with and knows the system, but could solidify the position for the next 6-8 years.

Also, I wouldn't close the door on Kap for 2017 just yet. Most signs point to him playing elsewhere, but Lynch mentioned in his presser at the combine that the door isn't shut. They just agreed it wasn't going to work under his current contract. So let him test FA and let the market dictate his value. I prefer to start fresh at QB, and I expect Kap to sign elsewhere, but would not rule out re-signing him either. We need to keep all our options open because the FA QB market is not good at all, as usual.

He may end up being our least worst option in a bad situation.
