Jeez, AB. Thanks, man. I was just about to ask if you had a rough bottom line re: where we are capwise. Your skill and work are just fantastic, and we are truly fortunate to have you on top of anything cap, salary, or anything else in between .Thanks for your work and dedication, AB.

Yes, they can. I haven't seen/heard anything. Anyone?
They would be quality signings b/c we need an RB2 and depth/push-starter at G. But if true, this means we may be staying with power instead of transitioning to the stretch-run game (at least for now). Poutasi is 335 pound mauler.
Kyle comes here with the rep of the best OC in the league. We also know he is one sharp cookie. If we have a very good OL, and that is the strong point of our team, does anyone really think kyle is initially going to take the one best part of a truly lousy team and disassemble it? Man , I think he is a way better coach than that. Also, with a stud Center, this OL becomes top flite. Kyle knows that and is secure enough in his own skin, to not have to do an entire rebuild of the OL this yr.

Thoughts on the Jags cutting Roy Miller, could we use him? True NT... Decent film, I don't know enough about him. Opinions?

How many players do we have beyond 2018?
Seems like 80% of the roster will be out of contract.

We have a glaring hole at the leo spot even though Blair will see some snaps there.
Btw, at 220 lbs, Malcolm smith is more likely to play the will not Sam. Unless cut, brooks will be the Sam.
Personally I'm looking at Solomon Thomas from Stanford in rd 1 to play the LEO spot, I'm a huge fan of him, that's if Garrett doesn't fall to us at 2.
Great player. Many concerns about him not being a true edge rusher though. Most ideal at RDT/3T where AA is projected to play. Versatile guy though...could play him at LDE/5T too (Buckner). But true edge rusher? Maybe?
That's why I've kept saying Thomas at Leo on base downs, in pass downs he'll slide to strongside DE when that guy ends up sliding inside at DT.
The longer i look at this the more i like it. Why not?

Man, that's a lot of cap...Robinson. is $3M per max, then a 3rd string QB and 2 ST players. Cheap...probably $77M left.

Nice! And those last four were signed for pretty cheap so in total probably the Niners are at least $70M under the cap.

A LOT of cap space still after all the Free Agents they've added to this point!

WEAKEST POSITIONS: Z receiver, guard, center, strong-side linebacker, middle linebacker, strong safety.
Grant Cohn, lol. We should strike going to his site and maybe he'll be out of a job.
Here's my current look at the roster with analysis-
Offense
QB: Hoyer, Barkley
Analysis- It's looking like we go into the season with Hoyer as our Day 1 starter, which was OK with me going into the off season. I think we did the best we could do here going into Free Agency aside from landing Cousins. I think we all have a good idea by now that Cousins wants to play for SF but the biggest questions are when and how? If we are set on Cousins being our guy whether it be in 2017 or 2018, taking a QB at #2 is out of the question. However, we should still do our due diligence on both Trub and Watson and make sure that they aren't "the guy". In the end, I see us going with a mid round QB prospect which allows us to keep the option of Cousins open.
Best Potential Additions- Watson and Trub (@#2), Peterman and Davis Webb (mid-round)
End Depth Chart: Hoyer, Barkley, Rookie
RB: Hyde, Mike Davis, Mostert
Analysis- We definitely need to add some pieces to this position group. After Hyde, Davis is a big question mark and Mostert was added late in the season. We'll be looking at the deep RB group hard in the draft and easily could bring another in FA. Hyde will have a big season if he can just stay healthy. More speed, play making, and pass catching ability will be required for any addition.
Best Potential Additions- Burkhead and Denard Robinson (FA), McCafferey (rounds 1-2), Kareem Hunt (mid rounder)
End Depth Chart: Hyde, Rookie, Burkhead/Robinson
FB/H-Back: Juszczyk, Blake Bell
Analysis- People are making a big deal about the money we paid Juszczyk but will use him as a receiver just as much as he will as a blocker. I have no problem with the addition and he's one of my favorite additions. Bell has the skill set to stick here more than TE so hopefully he can excel with Shanahan at the helm. I don't see us adding anyone here other than maybe a late rounder or undrafted FA.
Best Potential Additions - None
End Depth Chart: Juszczyk, Bell
XWR: Garcon, Eric Rogers, Smelter
YWR: Kerley, Aldrick Robinson, Ellington
ZWR: Goodwin, Burbridge, Carter, Ross
Analysis- I like Torrey Smith but swapping him for Garcon was the right move. Smith runs a limited route tree and was severely under producing. Too bad we couldn't get anything for him. Ideally, we would have Garcon as the #2 and at Z. Bringing in a #1 WR is still a big need and has been for MANY, MANY years now. Overall, I like the additions we brought in. Goodwin has speed that can stretch defenses, Garcon is reliable, tough, and productive, and Robinson has experience in Shanny's system and may be able to produce more with less in front of him. Re-signing Kerley for the price we did was also the right move. The "old WR's" that remain are going to have a tough time making the roster.
Best Potential Additions - Corey Davis (mid 1st), Mike Williams (mid-late 1st), Zay Jones (2nd), Darboh (mid rounds)
End Depth Chart- Garcon, Rookie, Kerley, Goodwin, Robinson, Burbridge/Ellington
TE: McDonald, Celek, Paulsen
Analysis- Paulsen is a solid addition as mostly a blocking TE, but Shanny will have him catching passes too. Celek doesn't do it for me but he can stick around unless we upgrade the position in the draft. Looking forward to seeing what McDonald can do in this offseason but it wouldn't surprise me if we take a MTE high in the draft and eventually waive Celek.
Best Potential Additions- OJ Howard (mid 1st), Evan Engram (2nd), Gerald Everett (2nd-3rd)
End Depth Chart- McDonald, Rookie, Paulsen
LT: Staley, Theus
LG: Beadles
C: Kilgore, Balducci
RG: Garnett
RT: Brown, Price
Analysis: The depth is lacking across the board but Lynch already knows that. Ideally I would like to move Garnett back to LG, and grab someone else to play RG, leaving Beadles as swing G. I think we have to look long and hard at bringing in a veteran C to compete with Kilgore. Better depth needed at RT/LT as well. Overall, a decent group but we still need to add here.
Best Potential Additions- Mangold (FA/C), John Sullivan (FA/C), Lamp (2nd), Dan Feeney (2nd), Dion Dawkins (2nd)
End Depth Chart- Staley, Garnett, FA, Rookie, Brown, Beadles, FA/Rookie, Theus
Defense
LDE (4T): Buckner, Dial, Moore
NT (1T): Mitchell, Purcell
RDT (3T): Armstead, Blair
LEO: Lynch, Tank
Analysis- Our weak link out of this group is LEO. Lynch is a good pass rusher when healthy but might be better a fit at SAM. We need our LEO to be a force rushing the passer who consistently gets to the QB. Mitchell is a solid addition but we need to push Purcell off the roster. Tendering him doesn't surprise me as their is no depth behind Mitchell, but getting a NT on Day 3 should be a priority. I have Armstead as a 3T because I think he is best at one gapping and penetrating in both the run game and pass game. Buckner proved to be a promising rookie and two gapped in our previous scheme and started to come on strong at the end of the year. He'll rotate with Armstead at each spot but I would keep him mostly at 4T in base. Blair should get his opportunities in nickel and Dial provides solid depth at all 3 interior DL positions. Tank may get pushed off the roster this year.
Best Potential Additions- Barnett (Mid 1st/LEO), Charles Harris (1st-2nd/LEO), McKinley (3rd with injury/LEO), Hankins (FA/NT), Roy Miller (NT), Dalvin Tomlinson (NT), Elijan Qualls (NT), Vanderdoes (NT)
End Depth Chart- Armstead, Mitchell, Buckner, Rookie, Lynch, Dial, Blair, NT (Rookie)
SAM: Brooks, Harold
MIKE: Bowman, Brock Croyle
WILL: Smith, Ray Ray
Analysis- We are 2 deep on paper with decent talent BUT we clearly need a youth and speed injection. People are complaining about the Smith contract but firstly we don't have the exact details and two he is being paid like a marginal starter even on the surface. If Bow can recovery from a second bad injury it will be remarkable. Brooks probably won't be around in 2018 so we'll need to prepare for the future at that spot, and Brock is more of a special teamer.
Best Potential Additions- Reddick (Mid-Late 1st/SAM or MIKE), TJ Watt (2nd/SAM), Cunningham (Late 1st/WILL), Trey Henderickson (Mid rounder/SAM), Foster (Early 1st/WILL), McMillian (2nd/MIKE), Jarrad Davis (2nd/WILL)
End Depth Chart- Brooks, Bowman, Smith, Rookie, Harold, Ray Ray, Rookie
RCB: Robinson, Reaser
SCB: Williams, Redmond, Iworah
LCB: DJ, Brock, Sheperd
Analysis- Hopefully Robinson can make a 2nd year leap as he is a good fit in this scheme as he was the last. I think he'll earn the starting job at RCB. DJ has the size we covet on the outside but we definitely need to upgrade. Brock is best suited as a #3 or #4 CB and lacks ball skills. In a Cover 1 scheme he'll need those skills as the S can only help so much and in Cover 3 we'll need length and ball skills in the back end. Thankfully the quality at CB in the draft this year is excellent and we should probably target one relatively early in the process. Good chance Brock is released/traded. Williams and Redmond should have a good battle for SCB duties. Reaser may be out of a roster spot this year.
Best Potential Additions- Humphrey (late 1st), Kevin King (2nd), Rasul Douglas (3rd)
End Depth Chart- Robinson, Rookie, Williams, Redmond, DJ
FS: Ward, Don Jones
SS: Tartt, Reid
Analysis- Moving Ward is the right thing to do. In this scheme he could be a play maker on the back end, and the skills he has developed at CB will help his coverage abilities in Cover 1. Tartt could end up being a great fit at SS in this scheme but Reid on the other hand is somewhat of a tweener. We are paying him quite a bit and it's hard to see him returning in 2018. We need more depth here but I think we're in a good spot going into the season.
Best Possible Additions- Hooker (FS), Baker (FS), Marcus Williams (FS), Jamal Adams (SS) *Don't see us going S in the Top 10
End Depth Chart- Ward, Tartt, Reid, Rookie, Don Jones
Special Teams
