Jarrad Davis is my favorite ILB in the draft, would love to see him in red and gold! Absolute beast with relentless pursuit.

Yeah, he's 230+ but his skill set is probably best for the WILL. I agree. But you want your top 3 LB's playing and my guess is, right now, that's Smith, Bowman, Ray-Ray. And Ray-Ray is certainly a good fit for WILL.

Lynch is only being placed at LEO because he's, allegedly, our best pass rusher. Other than spelling Buckner at LDE/5T, I really don't see a spot for him. He's certainly no edge rusher. LEO is by far, our biggest need. I'd put a true NT at #2 and long, tall press CB at 3 and true SAM as #4.

I'm going to keep beating this drum lol

WILL/ILB
Jarrad Davis

SAM
Ryan Anderson

NT
Dalvin Tomlinson

Keep on, we need 'em!

We don't need a WIlLL or MLB this year now that Smith/Ray-Ray will be battling for WILL spot and then back up will back up both MLb&WILL.

I don't like our leo situation. One of the best writers suggested lynch is more familiar with the 4 and 6 tech DE but familiar doesn't mean good and the writer stopped short of saying it. We have a glaring hole at the leo spot even though Blair will see some snaps there.

Btw, at 220 lbs, Malcolm smith is more likely to play the will not Sam. Unless cut, brooks will be the Sam.

Personally I'm looking at Solomon Thomas from Stanford in rd 1 to play the LEO spot, I'm a huge fan of him, that's if Garrett doesn't fall to us at 2.

Great player. Many concerns about him not being a true edge rusher though. Most ideal at RDT/3T where AA is projected to play. Versatile guy though...could play him at LDE/5T too (Buckner). But true edge rusher? Maybe?

That's why I've kept saying Thomas at Leo on base downs, in pass downs he'll slide to strongside DE when that guy ends up sliding inside at DT.

Isnt Aaron Lynch already perfect for that spot?

A healthy, in shape, focused and committed Lynch could do well in that role.

Exactly, so we should focus on getting him to that point, and not waste a pick.

According to Wikipedia's 49ers roster page, we signed Dennard Robinson and Jeremiah Poutasi.

Should be interesting.
Does anyone have a source they trust which evaluates the FAs still out there? I was looking at NFL.com's free agent tracker but they don't explain their ratings or how they came up with them.

There are only a handful of available DEs out there, according to NFL.com's FA tracker, connor barwin wasn't even rated in their top DE prospects.

Here are the available DEs in no particular order:

Margus Hunt
Connor Barwin
Chris Long
Jared Odrick
Devin Taylor
Dwight Freeney

Out of these names, honestly, I would only be interested in Barwin, Odrick, Long or Taylor. Odrick had a bad elbow injury so only interested if he is healthy now. Slim pickings at DE.

Yes, they can. I haven't seen/heard anything. Anyone?

They would be quality signings b/c we need an RB2 and depth/push-starter at G. But if true, this means we may be staying with power instead of transitioning to the stretch-run game (at least for now). Poutasi is 335 pound mauler.

Couple links on the OP. Decent breakdowns and up-to-the minute info.

Hunt is not a fit. Barwin is prob best as a 3-4 OLB. Prob not Long. Football commitment and character concerns with Odrick. Freeney is too old.

Taylor would probably be the most attractive and mutual fit as Martin Mayhew drafted Taylor in DET.

I have been using the PFF FA tracker. You can sort by grade, position, status, etc.

Good call AB...and if you don't like him, there is always the fallback position....we might have to be satisfied with Allen (Alabama). I like Solomon better, also, but there are certainly no flies on Allen either. Having gotten a QB by rather circuitous means, Cleve now has a Qb so they don't HAVE to take a Watson as their first pick. They can now get Myles. Whereas i like him best, i now assume Cleve gets him, (since they have a QB, at least for now), and go from there.

Re: the Osweiler "buyout " from HOuston, did you understand WTF they were doing by getting the Osweiler contract off Houston's payroll? Did they really do that to jsut buy a 2nd rd pick? No matter what explanation i have read, nothign makes sense. They DID acquire a qB so that they could now draft Myles and still have a Qb in the wings. Was it all just to do that? Hard to believe, AB. Maybe you have a different take ?

Yeah Cleveland made that trade only for that 2nd round pick, they want nothing to do with Brock. It's basically a trade for a pick in return for salary cap room for Houston. Cleveland has been rumored to be trying to trade Brock for whatever they can get but no one wants him

Don't think Poutasi is even a Free Agent.

He isn't, he is signed to the Jags, for 2017, $615K base salary.

Also Robbie Gould signed a 2yr/$4M deal, with $1M fully guaranteed($500K Signing Bonus & $500K of his 2017 base), $1.75M(2017 cap number), and $2.25M(2018 Cap Number)
