Chris Davis emerged as a starting slot candidate they were comfortable with, ofcourse Ward could play slot and Reaser had ability there as well so they figured to give him more time. When he was designated to return opthemseasn was lost so we shut him down completely and get another year on his contract by doing so. Redmond is gonna be a good football player for us this year. If Redmond doesn't pan out it won't be cause of his injury. We all hope no matter what happens this year with Reuben, he turns into baby Willis for us in 2018.

Generally agree, but we can't really say this as a small injury can take away just enough speed to throw his coverage ability down the tubes. Same thing was said about Smelter and Carradine. Just because a guy is healthy enough to play doesn't mean his level of play wasn't affected! NFL is a brutal game and small differences matter. That's why I had so much respect for guys like Justin Smith and Patrick Willis! They played with nagging long term injuries and still played at all pro levels.

I think they just haven't cut it..l they've been healthy. They we're both raw(Obviously Smelter a LOT more) and injuries didn't help for development. That response was more so about Redmond. We didn't wait a year to see him on the field. He was out there, changing directions on a dime in pre season. Totally different.

He was also practicing at the end of the season...just not full practice. Smelter blew out his baseball career with an arm injury and then his football career with a knee. If he heals completely, unlikely, he could still compete. His video from college looked like a bigger, stronger version of A Boldin.

How much of the draft board was Tom Gamble. He was the one working on it up until Jan-Feb. No other guys at the top had extensive time with the team.
I think Adam Peters played a large role on shaping it too.

How many years until Peters gets promoted to GM? At least I hope it happens before other teams go after him.

I believe he's 38?

I would never have believed that John Lynch the former safety with no GM background would have me so excited about the rebuild. Demolish, then start building a foundation.

He is doing a remarkable job for his first time as GM. I see only good things going forward for this franchise, with him and Shanny at the helm.

Im actually kind of happy we didn't pick 1st overall. I think it worked out better for us. Some scouts say Solomon Thomas and Myles Garrett werent that different in value, they just do different things.

After seeing some of Garrett's douchey comments, I feel like Thomas is much safer. His maturity level seems WAY ahead of Garrett.

Plus everyone the Browns touch turns to poop, so surely Garrett will bust and Thomas will end up being really good. lol
please stop downgrading Garrett just because we didn't get him. that is pretty childish.

Im not downgrading his talent, just his personality. He seems immature. The bust part was a Browns joke.

Being at 2 allowed us to get those extra draft picks from Chicago. One of which we flipped to Seattle to steal Foster from the Saints.

Id take Thomas/Foster over just Garrett for sure.
I wouldn't. Myles seems to be Von Miller on steroids and lacked pass rush badly the last two seasons. Garrett would have filled the biggest need on the D immediately.
Anyone would look better from day one.

You wouldn't take Thomas AND Foster over just Garrett? We dont get Foster if we had been at 1 and took Garrett.

Garrett is a monster, but hes said some questionable things. Immaturity is bit of a concern. Im not trying to tear him down, I just dont think hes a lock to pan out, and id rather have the 2 chances at an elite defender instead of just 1.

Maybe? Any word on our scouting department? I know a lot of times when a new GM comes in the scouts end up getting fired after the draft. I haven't seen any news so maybe lynch is going to keep all the scouts from the Baalke era.

Good God I hope not. I have been screaming about our scouting forever. Either we have had some of the worst scouting reports in the league, or Baalke completely ignored their input, but our drafts have been somewhere between awful and complete head scratchers IMO. As bad as they have been, they suddenly get better with Gamble and Baalke gone? I hope Lunch and his new personell team do a thorough house cleaning there.

They still need a Director of College Scouting.

Hmmm...maybe. Xanders has worked with both Peters and Mayhew.

Kubiak has hinted at interest in a FO role. If not now, maybe in the near future.
