5 picks. We moved up 5 picks. So, because we moved up 5 picks, which cost us a Whole 7th rounder, the expectations on CJ go from "it's okay if he develops into a backup" all the way to " he better start, day 2 guys are starters, he better!!!"
you don't get it, do you? we could have drafted any non-qb prospect, either with our original 4th or with that one. yet, we picked a qb backup if at all.

it's interesting how many ppl rave about this pick because Shanahan is the qb whisperer but last year many guys hated on Baalke because he picked Driskel late.

If only the savior Baalke was still in charge.
I think the 1st 3 picks are likely to be good players for us. I like the accumulation of picks for next year. I'm not a fan of much else personally. I don't understand the continual trading up for players that by all accounts were expected to be available in later rounds.

Because if you want a player you go get him. They were lucky Foster fell the way he did.

I am betting Siragusa gets the call if available in the 4th. The 9ers had both Witherspoon and Foster in for a visit as well as Siragusa.

I'm guessing Kittle

Hehehe

i hate the beathard pick but so far he has done well. wish he would take a look at the x browns tight end
A good draft is measured by impact players after three years. Correct? A good hit rate is about three or four players.

If that's the case, which four players do you believe will most likely be on the team in three years making an impact?

My picks:
Thomas
Foster
Kittle
Taylor

DT, D.J. Jones, Ol' Miss now.

I'll throw Williams in there. I think we will have four or five guys out of this draft. There will be at least one disappointment and one surprise.

After only ten years...they took my advice! LOL! A short, stout NT perfect for this defense!

We came within a gnat's eyelash of not getting Foster...esp since Payton was on the phone wiht him at the time, welcoming him to N.O. Doesn;t get much closer than that. We wanted him and had we waited 2 picks more, or even 2 seconds longer , woulld ahve missed the 4th best talent in draft and the consensus best :LB....match him up wiht Solomon....uuuuuhhhhh...D just got so much better i can't put a word to it. To potential all pros/definite immediate starters/ IMPACT players/leaders....umm...yeah, you DO move up to take guys like that.

GM to me on John Lynch: "I thought he'd suck. I was wrong."

In our case it takes a village to raise a draft, and I'm perfectly fine with it. Lynch, Shanahan and peters seem to know what they want. Mistakes will be made and that's ok, get em out early and by next year or two we can be a well oiled machine.
People forget that it is going to take more than 1 draft to fix this team.
For his first draft, this was pretty damn good. Picks made sense. We got set up for next year. They didn't take the guys I wanted per se (outside of Thomas), but they did hit defense hard this year early and went with offense later. Hopefully these guys work out so we can do this in reverse next year.
