Can we sign a WR already? We won't will we?

Depends on what we're looking for.

If it's a move to help us this year, they need to be able to learn the offense and beat out Deebo, Robinson, Kirk for snaps. If you get a comparably skilled player (WR3 type player), they're going to be at a disadvantage in that they don't know the offense like those guys. But if it's a guy that you trust can learn the offense, then it could work. It's why they reached out to Jauan Jennings, despite it being a potential playoff competitor. That guy DOES know the offense and can slide in. In the past, we found a veteran WR in Emmanuel Sanders, and he was able to slide in.

A guy like George Pickens is tremendously talented, but he's on a franchise tag right now and could end up being a one-year rental. He works as an outside WR, but is not a very willing blocker... which Shanahan desires for our run scheme. I don't think he fits the profile of someone we'd want to invest a draft pick on and take his cap hit.

I think there's some wiggle room if it's a guy that helps us this year AND future years. I don't think the Jets are sellers, but a Garrett Wilson-type splash would be an investment due to this cap hit PLUS draft picks... But a player like that could help us this year and in the next couple years.

We did.

Just imagine that DRob was just signed.

Not sure why some of you just want to trade for a WR just to trade for a WR? Do we really need another #3 type WR? Especially considering it would cost us a 4th or 5th rounder and those are the picks we hit on the most.

If we aren't getting a #1 type guy then i don't want one. I would have taken Jennings back since he knew the system but that ship is sailed.

Malik Washington or Downs are my preferred options where we wouldn't be giving up a ton. Yes they aren't going to be a #1 type, but they are also good on PR, which we really need.

Yes, actually, we do. Especially if they can return punts.
The problem is if we dont sign another WR and Evans comes back and has a season ender we will be relying on Cooks and Cowing. If we got a BTJ at least that is someone servicable with potential upside and a future.

You're skipping WRs 2,3 and 4?

If Evans has a season ender, the long-term plan is Robinson, Deebo, Kirk, and eventually Stribling in December.
We can win games with that cast... though I don't know how we'd do against defenses like the Seahawks. I don't think we could have beaten the Seahawks in Week 5 without Mike Evans.

But there's only so many receivers you can replace Mike Evans with, and they'd be pretty expensive to trade for in terms of draft capital and cap hit, so .

Cowing is total ass, why can't he be gone already

If he just made better decisions at Punt Returner, he'd be fine to have on the roster as a WR5. But because he doesn't, we hold our breath every time he fields a punt.

I bet we sign someone but I don't think it will till Tuesday near the deadline
It's a longshot but my darkhorse hope is Jared Verse! lol idk what his cap numbers look like. I've put little actual time into seeing how realistic this is but I'd love it. it would make me very happy.

Oh damn! he's on a rookie constract with 2 years left. that would be worth a damn good pick, imo.
