John Lynch gonna probably make one trade and hope for the best. I'm prepared for a big let down with something along the lines of "We like the guys we have".

You people hoping for Quentin Nelson better come back down to earth. Lynch puts as much stock into the Guard position as he does the Safety position. They think we can skate by with late rounders and cheap veterans.
well with the guys we had we were the best team out there.. so it's not like we need toss all 5 cards in this poker game

This. And I wouldn't get my hopes up for a receiver like Garrett Wilson or Chris Olave. They want their receivers to know Kyle's system and its too complicated to learn mid season. If I remember correctly, they traded for Emmanuel Sanders before but the only reason for that was because he was a vet that already knew the scheme.

Best you could hope for is Buckner or maybe something completely out of the box like Jonathan Taylor

It has nothing to do with the 49ers. NO and NY aren't trading Olave or Wilson, repectively.

How about we look at the worst replacement level players on the team and look to upgrade them at the same time as looking at who will be back.

IMO Connor Colby, Ja'Iyr Brown, Returner Jacob Cowing, Pinero and Jack Jones are the weak links on the team.

WR and DE are needs but Bosa will be back at DE possibly Sam O as well and Evans, Deebo, Robinson and Stribling will all be back at WR. Realistically there aren't any guys that can step in and be a top option unless Dallas wants to trade Pickens.

-Hobbs could replace Jones or Upton Stout needs to stay healthy
-We have no one to replace Cowing at PR and he is statistically the worst returner in the league. It's a matter of time before he costs us a game.
-Pinero needs to have competition brought in ASAP. His missed kicks are killing us
-As for Colby and Brown we don't have anyone to replace them. Sigle is decent but redundant with Mustapha. Get a guard and a legit center field FS and this team will be much better.

Transactions:

Connor Colby - Trade for Quentin Nelson from IND
Ja'Iyr Brown - Trade for Budda Baker from AZ
Jacob Cowing - Trade for Britain Covey from PHI
Eddy Pinero - Sign a vet for competition
Jack Jones - Activate Nate Hobbs

Our 5 weakest links on the team are replaced with Pro Bowl veterans

ultimately, none of the three phases played well today
defense couldn't get a stop and gave up tons of first downs.
offense turned the ball over 4 times
ST missed PAT and gave up really good returns, not for TD but a ton of yardage.

hopefully this was just a perfect storm of guys being exhausted, hurt, east coast game on a short week.

a part of me is glad the guys have to have this bad taste in their mouth through the bye. Maybe it'll help them stay focused and realize they aren't unbeatable

It was just bad all around. Coaching, defense, offense, special teams - everything went wrong. It was one of those - as you said - perfect storm games. It happens, they have to learn from it, heal up, and win versus the Raiders in two weeks.

Is what it is, I never expected to win all the games. I just always hope we don't play bad football, which today was.

we're 6-1 at the bye, so that's great. Just need to continue getting healthier and make a few trades. If we can bolster this roster with quality players and get healthy, we can be a problem. Especially if we can fix the pass rush.

I was disappointed we didn't resign Chase young. He's had like 22 sacks since he's left here and no one else has had even 11. lol loved the trade for him but was disappointed we didn't resign him. Him and Bosa would have been really good. Young is super talented.
I love Nelson as much as anyone, I remember hoping we'd have a chance at him in the draft, which obviously we didn't. But I don't have any expectation for him. Would require at least a first round pick and that isn't happening.IMO

Man… he was a middle 1st round pick a year and a half ago and only has 2 sacks / 3 TFL in his career.

Unless the Bengals are really, really selling low on him (like, Day 3 pick, which seems unlikely after being a mid-1st just 18 months ago) I wouldn't like this trade

The reality is, if there even is a trade, it's going to look like the Keion White trade, and not some blockbuster.
Late round pick, diamond in the rough type trade.
It worked last season with White, and it's worked several times before that. (Omenihu, Maliek Collins, etc. )

BUT BUT BUT "he's only 22!" "if anyone can mold him, Kocurek can"

The 2 dumbest arguments made on this forum. I didn't like/want Stewart for the same exact reasons i didn't want the guy at 11 we took. They are similar style players. Stewart actually has a higher pass rush grade and run grade. Stewart's 2 sacks in 11 games is on par with the 2 sacks in 12 games our guy has. Cincy benches their guy and we are starting and praising ours. Let that sink in for a minute.

This.

Maybe if there's a massive, massive overpay they do it. We're talking a two 1sts + change package. Otherwise they are too valuable to them in future seasons, even with their 2-5 records.

lol. Legend in your own mind
Wilson is unhappy after his targets yesterday(3) and had 2 receptions. While rookie Omar Cooper was 5-115-1td. Something to watch before the deadline.

I don't know how teams could swing this with his current contract.
