However, its surprising we are caught flat footed for our first game. If Bosa cant consistently stay on the field this could easily be a historic season.

Aiyuk was fine until he got injured and became a head case. Pearsall looked good when he as healthy enough to play but he's had terrible luck with injuries. It's too soon to say williams isn't rsoter wot=rthy. He was playing better each week until he got hurt. Solly was considered a top DL prospect when he came out of college so there was nothing wrong with the pick. He just never developed into what was expected. It happens a lot.

Kind of tough to get a Trent Williams, CMC, Nick Bosa kind of player - drafting almost dead last every year. Just a thought.

Agree, i think they are a bit unbalanced there. I'd rather have an all-pro defensive end plus a all-pro safety, versus two all-pro DLinemen and no pro Defensive Back. Easier said than done, of course. Just my take on how these defenses of the past have fared in past playoffs and beyond.

I can't help but wonder if Kyle would have chosen Mac Jones and used those wasted 1st rounders on defense - if the Superbowl outcome would have been different. I know there's no guarantee we would have made the Superbowl without Brock, but still - what a disastrous mistake they did. Brock saved ShanaLynch's jobs in my opinion.

Here were Trent's OT rankings per PFF grade in every season since he came to SF.

2020: 1st
2021: 1st
2022: 1st
2023: 2nd
2024: 6th
2025: 3rd

His highest graded PFF season with Washington was 92.7 in 2016.

With the 49ers since 2020 he's had 2 grades higher than that including an insane 97.8 grade in 2021. Last year he was at 91.5 which would be 3rd best in his Washington career.

You can certainly question the PFF grading but even with its flaws it's the best way to evaluate OL play across the years.

So yes he was definitely still in his prime when the 49ers traded for him.

For all their misses I am not mad about Lance. The QB is the one you swing and miss for. Of course they missed and it hurt badly, but they also found Brock. All the other missed high picks are where I have issue.

My point through all of this was that since Lynch has been the GM with Kyle, they don't use their 1st round picks to trade for established proven players. That's what their track record says at least.
