He's had a few bad drafts but he's been in league offices for 30 years. Niner fans would replace Lynch with Schneider in a heartbeat. Schneider has 3 Lombardi's and should've had 4 if they handed the ball to Marshawn at the one. Roseman can't even sniff Schneider's jock as a GM. Les Snead is even a better GM than Roseman

No they aren't. Roseman is clearly the best talent evaluator in the league.

Few bad drafts? From 13 to 21 he got D Metcalf Tyler Lockett and Frank Clark kinda. Was lucky to not get canned with Carroll. He's hit on his high picks recently but 13-21 was far worse than the 9 years of the 9er regime. Or Rosemans tenure.

The only reason both Roseman and Schneider don't have 3 titles each is the Eagles drew a dynasty and the Hawks drew a 2nd year qb with a mediocre cast. Also crediting Schneider for a title when he wasn't the GM is lame.

Reading the contant complaints about how poorly the Niners draft is like reading a comic strip. It's easy to go back after the fact and say they should have picked this guy or that guy. Sure they've missed on some early picks. Every team does. Each year there are several teams picking ahead of the 49ers and many of them are the same teams every year. With all those high draft picks why aren't those teams winning or even getting to super bowls? By the time the Niners usually pick thre best tackles are off the board. The best at every position are gone. When you pick at the end of the round you're often left with guys that are marginal. After the top 15 or 20 players the quality starts to all look about the same.

Totally agree however with 9 years of data to use the trend is towards the bottom of the league in draft effectiveness. you can't deny it.

I don't think the 49ers are any worse than some of the other top tier teams that draft later in rounds. About half of all 1st round picks never become star players. The thing that really skews the Niners recent failures is the Lance trade . That was a complete disaster and it cost us the next 2 years as well. Other than that the Niners drafts have pretty much been graded as C to B depending on the year. The results after the picks have suffered because of injuries in some cases. Those can't be predicted.

Williams, Collins and West haven't played enough to make a full evaluation. Williams was actually progressing well considering they were moving him inside and outside so he had to learn a lot. Once Bosa got hurt he was forced to play more on the edge because of need. West and Collins showed occasional flashes but lacked consistency. I say we need to give them at least this year before we start calling them busts.

The thing is every year there's going to be at least a couple spots that need upgrades because of injuries or players leaving via free agency. No team is perfect at every position. The Seahawks got lucky with some picks that turned out better than expected but they still had some weaknesses.
They built a championship team. That defense is different and they win with Sam I am the turnover machine. What have we built during the same period? We keep building like this and we should invest in a hospital right next to the stadium to deal with the injuries and build a retirement center on the other side for late stage vets we keep signing. It's the same s**t every year. Good enough to compete for a playoff but far from good enough to win it all. It ain't back luck. It ain't the sub station it's the organizational philosophy that needs a tune up. The f**king Seahawks won it all in our house with our backup qb. Insulting. Our offense will continue to struggle from two things. Always needing 30 plus to win and an offensive line one play away from killing our qb. This is a paper team. Names look good but they are too old or too fragile. Bosa missed 25% of the games since signing, Rick glass out more games than he played, Greenlaw can't stay healthy if his life depended on it, cmc with the tendinitis, kittle getting up there, Evans is an IR candidate just waiting to happen, DSam breaks down half way through the season.. he has a lot of hard miles on him. Last years record was half miracle and half Kyle doing his best to hold it together. If we want to win we need to do things differently. New philosophy. New GM.

You ask what have the Niners built? We'll since Kyle and John came aboard they completely rebuilt a team that was total garbage and managed to get to 2 SBs and 4 conference title games. Not bad considering all the injuries this team has suffered. I know it woud hav ebeen nice to win this eSB games but they were in position to win both. It wasn't Lynch's fault or even Kyle's that the defense could come through in the 4th quarter. My point is this team has been a contender nearly every season so you can't say Kyle and John have done a terrible job.
I guess that's the problem in a nutshell. Kyle And John.. Kyle is not the problem. Not by a long shot. Where do you see me pointing a finger a Kyle? Kyle is a great coach. Lynch is not a great GM. They are two separate people with different roles and responsibilities. Sure they need to work hand in hand but at the end of the day lynch is responsible for the side of the house that needs to be rebuilt. 2 nd oldest team in the league. Year after year we suffer a catastrophic number of injuries, neglect needs and go with hunches at draft time, sign then extend low character head cases that don't see the field or walk off when they don't agree with a decision. The Ricky glass pick was stupid. Passed on oline and much needed secondary help for a guy that was a late second rounder at best and likely to be a 3rd rounder. Bad drafting, poor salary cap management, dependency on declining stars late in their careers have become the 49er philosophy. I think it's time for a new philosophy and that starts with a new GM. Will it ever happen… I doubt it.. will we win a championship if it doesn't?…I doubt it.
There's more to being GM than the draft.

I'm only gonna comment on the cap statement and that's BS they have never mishandled the salary cap, idk where you're getting that from but it's pure BS

Schneider has almost a decade straight of horrible drafting…all it takes is one really good draft to change the narrative.

This. Might as well talk about Lynch's SB win as a player lol.

Schneider was dogs**t for almost a decade…trading Wilson saved his job. 11 picks in the top 51 should help rebuild a roster that he failed to replenish for years.

The Eagles really hit in 2021,22 qnd 23. They got Jalen Carter withthe 9th overall pick in 2023. The Nolan Smith slipped down and fell in their lap with the 30th overall pick. He was projected to go higher. In 2022 they got Jordan Davis with the 13th pick. 2021 saw them get DeVonta Smith with the 10th and Landon Dickerson with the 37th. Those 5 alone are real solid building blocks. They were fortunate to have those types of talented players when they hd some higher draft picks.

The last time the Niners had high picks similar to that in 3 succesive years they got McGlinchey, Bosa, Aiyuk and Kinlaw. Kinlaw was a bust and McGlinchey was only a marginally good O lineman. Aiyuk was pretty good for a short time but we know how that turned out. Bosa has been the only real star and he's had a lot of injury problems. So it often comes down to getting lucky and having a really good draft pool when you're in position draft high and then you have to hope they stay healthy.
Niner fans are so butthurt in the comments, but Schwartz is right. Top heavy roster led by old, injured players with no young impact talent at all. There isn't a single impact player under 25 years old on this team. Maybe Stribling changes that this year, but one guy is not nearly enough. The SB window is about to slam shut in their f**king face.

I think it's time to s**tcan John Lynch after this season if the 2026 class doesn't provide an immediate impact. Not because he makes bad picks, but because he doesn't have the balls to make all the calls. The 49ers rely way too much on consensus instead of having a strong, centralized personnel philosophy. Position coaches should have input, but Lynch and the personnel department should be driving the decisions--not letting every coach's preference carry so much weight. You have Chris Foerster calling Enrique Cruz, one of the worst OL prospects I've ever seen, after he was selected by the Niners and telling him, "I told you we were going to come get you." That's all you need to know about their draft philosophy.

Be carful what you wish for if Lynch goes the Shanahan's will probably bring in John Elway to be the GM

John Lynch doesn't need to be fired. His contract is up.

Promote Ahmad and give him and the personnel guys full control of the 90. Kyle and the coaches picks the 53

Yeah I'd rather go outside the team to find the next GM….imo the coaching staff as a whole has a ton of say on who's getting drafted.

McG makes a s**t ton of cash and is a starting RT on the best OL in football. He's absolutely an impact player.

I agree with being lucky to draft a stud….sometimes that's not an option based on the draft and where you're picking.

Just more likely Kyle cedes power to someone he knows that some random dude from another team. We also don't know exactly how much people from other teams are contributing to their processes vs our own guys.

The success of late round picks and udfas show the personnel guys themselves aren't the problem IMO.
Also the fact that Lynch hasn't been extended means a move is coming.

If we are hiring random old players off the streets to be GM my vote is Ronnie Lott. He was the only person Charles Haley and Romanowski feared and respected
