Lucked into Shanahan but Lynch as a GM? Wtf?? So many qualified GMs 49ers interviewed...and in the end - they decided to hire a guy who has ZERO experience working in a NFL Front Office. He has ZERO experience as a scout at any level. I understand, so many potential GM candidates rejected 49ers. But, to hire a guy who has never held a position that is in no way related to a day-2-day job profile of a GM is unbelievable. I'm sure Lynch is a smart guy...he was a smart player...but that has NOTHING to do with being a GM. Why take the risk at this time? --------------- edit: After having some time to digest this news...wish him all the best and I hope he proves ppl wrong. Still don't understand why we needed to take such a risk but it is what it is now. I do have to say - his first presser made a positive impression.

But it's not like CJ West and Alfred Collins didn't make plays. And it would most likely take snaps away from Gracen Halton. It would be a solid one two punch though with Armstead and Osa. But hey what do I know I didn't really want Greenlaw back and you did and they signed him.

Assuming healthy, I like our DT depth knowing Mykel can slide inside. AA was awesome, but that ship has sailed.

I want Greenlaw to retire a niner. I love players that play with an edge like that. I don't hate West or Collin's but their play wasn't spectacular last year if AA can come in and take their spot then that's on them. Assuming he comes for a discount cause of familiarity I would love to have more depth on the Dline.

I agree they have potential but they haven't shown anything more than backups thus far. They made some plays but gave up a ton too. Hopefully they take a big step forward this camp, That being said Mykel and Osa should be able to hold down the inside with them and Halton in rotation. The thing with Armstead is he can also play DE which I value, he can set the edge in the run game but don't expect a pass rusher especially at this stage in his career

What is soft about him? I know you've always hated him and always say this…you never show examples of him being "soft" imo he's a really damn good defensive lineman that any team should want on their roster (for the right price).

Dude played last year with a busted up and he calls him soft. Some guy behind a keyboard calling a 10+ year NFL vet soft. What a joke.

AA kinda makes sense to start the season if Mykel is still not recovered.

Mykel is a big end with a focus on run stuffing and setting the edge.

We dont have an equivalent skill replacement.

DE Kion White can maybe do it...but he had a chance last year and he was not stopping the run at the high level Mykel was.

AA would not be a DT on this defense. AA would play big end and focus on run stuffing and setting the edge. I guarantee an old AA can still do well in this role
