Both Matt's don't have the inside chatter like they used to. It's why they can't really answer with confidence and their guess is just as good as any other 49er fan who does their research

That's pretty rich. Two guys who have spent over twenty years reporting on the team and, in that time, have had almost daily access during the season to the players, coaches, and front office, aren't any more qualified to provide insight into the team than a fan who does their "research". On the internet I presume, the home of flat earthers, moon landing deniers, and Grant Cohn, along with several other 49er content creators who are all just convinced that they know more about what's going on with the team than the people who are actually in the building on a regular basis. I swear, this place.

Would you guys bring him back for cheap?

If he could be had for cheap, sure. I'm not sure that is a realistic possibility.

Armstead would get in the way of the young DT's development. I think Osa is enough to lead the young guys.

What's rich is that Grant has just as much "access" as the Matt's do, so in your view should be just as good and knowledgeable like the Matt's right lol

there are no more leaks, no one has any good "inside" stuff anymore, even for the Matt's.

With all the social media access and vids out there now, anyone who is willing to put in the time can and are doing 49er "reporting" from their own homes.

you got to embrace tech and how the times are now with reporting

There are two big differences between the Matt's and Cohn. One, they have been doing it for a longer period of time, and two, they're not ignorant tools who think they know more about the game than they do. They report what they see and hear. Cohn's reports are all colored by his own ego and agenda. He was the one who asked Lynch if he felt the fans were justified in their belief that the organization had a habit of reaching for draft picks. To his credit, that was a legitimate question, but the look of utter contempt Lynch had on his face told you everything you need to know about how he felt about Cohn.

I guess some people will look at that and say, "It's good, reporters shouldn't just be shills for the team". And I also agree with that, but Cohn has burned so many bridges within the organization with his hot take, click bait opinions, that you have to believe that unlike the Matts, he is never going to get a one-on-one interview with anyone who matters and so he'll always be on the outside looking, which makes him barely more credible than the fan who is sitting at home, "researching" on the internet.

I just gave you an example of another person who has access like the Matt's do and can have a completely different side of things. Both sides you can take a grain of salt with as no one has the real truth anymore from a 49er perspective.

I haven't followed them or look for their insights as I can just come here and get a good deal of info from others who are at home… well it used to be a good deal here lol

Agree 💯%, young players need reps to grow and learn, and coaches need to give them reps to see if the young players can handle NFL level competition. The sooner ShanaLynch finds out if they are busts (or not) the sooner ShanaLynch can get rid of them and get players that can perform.

Walsh was notorious in getting rid of players fast that he thought couldn't play at the NFL level.

I wouldn't be opposed. He had a very good first half, but dropped off a lot in the 2nd half, probably bc of his hand injury.

It's also not a guarantee he's gonna get released either. If he does, he won't come that cheap. I doubt we got after him especially how Collins and West started playing better in the 2nd half.

Honestly a rotation of Armstead, Osa, and Mykel inside would be awesome, dont think he'd get in the way but I don't think we need another DT either. Rather spend that $ on an actual edge. Drives me up a wall we've seen what this defense can do when you pair Bosa with another good DE but we have failed to find one since Dee Ford

I wouldn't mind him if hes willing to come back for cheap and in more of a rotational and leadership type role. With the type of injuries we always deal with having a solid and proven vet like him in the rotation is a win in my book as long as the price is in our favor. Also having him in that rotational type role will reduce his chances of injury which would be another win for us.
