If there was ever a year to invest in the OL for the 49ers, it was this offseason after experiencing what the Seahawks did to them. Yet they literally did close to nothing. Threw a couple of day 3 picks at it, some free agency dumpster diving and called it a day. Their gross negligence will come back to bite them in the ass.

Yet they let their first round pick center walk and are projected to start an udfa at center and a mediocre journeyman at right guard.

You should check out some of the Raven communities. They've been cooking EDC for his failures to address the line. Don't let the Ioane pick fool you, they needed to address the IOL. And the Raven fans have been acting just like our fans calling for EDC to be fired if the OL sucks again this year.

What's also funny is they knew they had a hole at center after watching Linderbaum walk. The guys they thought would be available later in the draft got picked earlier than they expected. a theme in this draft class. Keylan Rutledge got taken 26th overall in the 1st. They opted into taking an edge rusher at 45th overall (2nd) instead of the other guy they were targeting, Jake Slaughter, who went 63rd (2nd). They then proceeded to ignore the position by taking 2 WRs, a RB, a TE, and a P. The OL they took with their last pick was guard depth. Even after signing the PSU center as a UDFA, EDC was like oops, guess I'll need to trade for a center after ignoring it. Seriously, our OL may be in better shape entering this season than the Ravens.

We gave up two firsts and a third to pick swap firsts in 2021. 2021 1.3 for 2021 1.12, 2022 1.29 and 3.102, and 2023 1.29.

And for all the people screaming "cOnSeNsUs!!!", Lance was #7 on the site that keeps getting spammed in the last week...

3 first round picks in my book. first round pick - Trey Lance - Bust, then add the 2nd and 3rd first round picks to that bust.

Does the 3rd round pick in that package not count?

That just makes it worse.
I really wish Lynch would sign Bethea already. We need that safety help!

I think Forester has a lot of say in terms of who he wants on his O-line. But Shanahan does too of course.

Totally agree, I hope they're not done at adding a veteran Safety. I really do like Dallas' draft a lot, I hate to say it but that's my favorite draft this year. Lynch would never take a Safety that high.

I have conspiracy theory that Foerster insists on taking day 3 scraps for job security. If he does well, he looks like a savant; if OL sucks, he can use that lack resources as an excuse.

Yeah it is ridiculous how so many are acting like all these other teams are great and we reached yet this draft was so light and so many teams including SEA LAR reached according to the so called great consensus boards and yeah they let a top 2 C go and are gonna start a UDFA some ppl don't get that the talent level isn't there for the OL all across the entire league there's a real lack of good OL in the NFL

i Hope lynch can build something anywhere close to this type of play. Watching those highlights and how dominate the defense was.. such a shame they never won the sb. One of the best defenses I've ever seen. 2011 defense was incredible

the amount of pressure those defenses created is incredible . Now we can't even get pressure, let alone a sack. Lol

Personally, I think the defense last year was more of a problem. Kyle, in my opinion, will always have a great offense. Good scheme, good coach who can coach up marginal offensive players to operate that offense to starter level performance.

Their defensive scheme has a built in weakness in the defensive backfield. I.e. rush the passer so you don't have to have top end coverage DB's. That weakness seems to be always exploited in the playoffs and they never seem to fix that blindspot of theirs. Oh well.

I agree (to a certain extent) on Foerster. There's YouTube videos out there of him saying he prefers scrappy day three OLine picks vs talented but lazy day one picks. Personally I'd like him to have both scrappy *and* day one picks.

But I saw the defense more of a weakness this draft cycle (and the last draft cycle) than the offense. Both Mykel and Bosa were seriously injured last year and not 100% guaranteed to come back from those injuries - and prior to that, they just traded for bad defensive players and put them on a bad scheme.

I disagree 100%

By far the biggest reason Seattle had their way with our Oline in the playoffs was because we had absolutely no-one they respected at the skill positions.

Kendrick Bourne, DeMarcus Robinson, Skyy Moore and Jake Tonges scare no-one.

Compare that to Mike Evans, Ricky Pearsall, De'Zhaun Stribling and George Kittle when we play them first and let's see what happens to that front 7.

Go ahead, stack the box and play a 2 deep. Let's see what will happen.
