True lol, I don't either, so I refuse to judge anyone when they're drafted, and I'll wait for their 3rd year to begin figuring out whether they were worth the pick or not, majority of draft picks don't even make it to their 3rd year, let along getting a new deal.
sometimes I just go a few years back and sift through the picks in most of the draft and see how it panned out - it's astonishing how many of these players drafted in the first 4-5 rounds that won't get to their 3rd year, will never start a game etc.
that's why I never understand how people call picks that didn't become stars, but players who contribute, a bust. I hope we can get a few starters and then guys who can be role players and maybe potentially develop.
I think what's hurt this team most with their missed draft picks is that they usually literally provide 0.
So I hope the first two rounds this year are players who can rotate well or start and play well. The rest I hope can maybe eventually develop but contribute in a rotation/ST.
Oh yeah, it's crazy how so many early round players all around the NFL don't pan out, It sucks when we miss, but we do hit, I just think we need to be better early on, we seem to do better in the later rounds, so hoping we find some solid starters, I'm not sure we'll see many rookies be day 1 starters, but to get some for the future would be nice, but it seems BPA will be the way we go early on, I won't be shocked if we trade down multiple times, or if we stand pat at all 6 picks.
If you really think about it, the way the salaries have changed (rookie wage scale/out of this world free agent contracts), its almost better to miss on rookies rather than inflated free agent contracts. Maybe this is why our f/o addresses needs at the top of the draft?
I would love it if we never missed, and its hard to understand how teams put millions of dollars or say they invest millions of dollars into their scouting departments and then get it wrong year in and year out.
We should all get used to it. College players are playing for multiple different teams, which leads to multiple different levels of play, and then they go to these specialized training academy's to prepare for the combine drills. This all leads to great film and great testing only to find out they can't hang with the big boys or that they really don't love football. All of this can lead to a misdiagnosis on the part of the scouting departments. Not to mention social media hype which is very important from a team & league business standpoint.
