I don't think Bosas (if Joey is acquired) would be regular bookends necessarily, they would sometimes. But they could rotate in & out for each other quite a bit.

I don't really get this fascination with Joey Bosa, beyond the novelty of having brothers as bookends along the line. It seems to me as though his best years are probably behind him. 29 tackles, five sacks and five forced fumbles last year. The forced fumbles number is pretty good but five sacks for an edge rusher who you would like to be a difference maker doesn't impress much.

Jonnydel had an interesting video where he was talking about how the Niners need to find guys along the line that can win at all three levels, which he described as, along the line, 5-yards deep, and 7-yards deep. His contention was that we already had some guys who could develop along the line, the new guy, Osa, Collins, Williams, West, and maybe even Valdez. Nick was the guy he saw as the 5-yard player and someone like Dee Ford, or Huff, were guys who could win at the 7-yard depth. It seems like adding Joey just gives you another 5-yard guy, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I think the goal should be to find that 7-yard guy before spending money on a 31-year-old who is probably at the tail end of his career at this point.

Talent is talent. We need guys period. When you are historically bad, worse in the NFL, beggars can't be choosers. Relying on the second year guys to make a jump (Mykel, Alfred, West) would be a mistake IMO cause it could very well go the opposite direction in the way of the Sophmore slump which is a very real thing. Although I will say this and it's not to be mean; it's reality, they can't get much worse than their rookie season lol.

I am really intrigued with Valdez and was surprised he didn't get run last season. I thought he looked better than they did in preseason. Hope he makes the squad this year and isn't back on the PS
Feels like we are winning the offseason so far… doesn't mean much come September. The biggest win will be if guys stay on the field.

I'm sorry but I just absolutely love our offseason so far

We need a Safety. That is all

It sucks that John Lynch doesn't value Safety too much to take one in the 1st or 2nd round. Just think how good this defense would've been had it drafted Cooper DeJean? He's got more passes defended than all three of the 9ers starting Safeties.

I don't think Lynch doesn't value safeties. After all he played that position. Maybe between him and Kyle they just felt other positions were a higher priority. I'm not sure how good the 49ers DB coaches are either. Maybe it's the way they're asking these guys to play.

After Jimmie Ward, he hasn't invested in the Safety position as much as the other positions on the team. This may not seem like a lot, but he invested 3rd and 4th round picks on a Kicker and Punter. That's pretty damn high for kickers, that's almost like spending a 1st round pick on a Safety. lol
Get some Safeties!

Yes, please. And another backer if Martin doesn't work out.

still have camp/cuts coming around the league.
and trades through the summer.

they will have to figure out Safety OL/DL for sure.
Anyone says Lynch isn't aggressive or never does anything can all f**k right off. Just because some of the free agency moves or draft picks haven't worked out isn't totally his fault.

Yep and I've noticed the usual suspects haven't been around lately.

Trading 3 first to move up for a qb should've killed those talks

Joey also had in addition 30 hurries and 12 QB hits which need to be taken into account. This affects a QB into not connecting, possibly making a bad throw, in addition to the 5 sacks. Five forced fumbles is worth more than a sack, its a turnover hopefully that either gives the ball to the offense in an opponent's territory or stops a drive. Hell, I would take 12 forced fumbles from a DL.

I have some Issues with Lynch but he has built 2 superbowl teams (he wasn't calling plays, not his fault)

Its easy and often lazy to hurl insults at him and act like we could do better.

The plays called weren't the issue either
