Gonna fill the roster with free agents and undrafted rookie free agents. In other words, what teams do every year. lol

Almost all the picks are 4th or higher, which is pretty damn good. They can and should land starters + major contributors if they draft smart.

This could be the year to trade back in the early rounds and acquire more picks. IMO 7 picks isn't gonna get the job done.

How many open roster spots do we have if everyone is healthy? I guess I am asking how many rookies could come in and play right away with our current roster?

I remember back when our roster was so strong that Coach Harbaugh had to stash guys on I.R just to keep them.

Well Kyle doesn't really play rookies a ton unless he has no choice.

Yes, that is good. They mess this up the conversation around here will be very different next year.

This isn't a bad idea, but not something we have seen them do so I won't hold my breath.

So bringing in an 11 man draft class doesn't really make sense. We can grab undrafted free agents to increase our roster size for camp.

true, but id rather they actually hit on their draft picks and not worry about finding UFA gems which is for more unlikely

Facts

But this has not been the case the past ten years.

A "good" draft class your lucky if you got 3 contributors per class. When i say contributors i mean average players too, not 3 pro bowl caliber players. This is based on draft classes that i have analyzed since 2000.

The NFL treats draft picks like gold but the reality is most picks don't pan out at all. If i were Lynch i would trade some of the mid round picks for proven quality players. The trick with that is to fit those players under the cap though.
Hendrickson not being tagged. I wonder if Lynch will even try to kick the tires.

If Pierce's agent lets him sign ANY deal before UFA he is an absolute idiot. Let teams openly bid on you.

Well, in that case I am very happy that you are not Lynch. Trading draft picks for veterans is not going to work....we need to get younger, cheaper, and hungrier. We need to build through the draft for the most part to do that, not trade away our picks.

Crazy. I really wanted us to sign him last year too.

Good teams do a mixture. I'm not saying trade every pick away. We have three 4ths.

Go look at any draft class from any team from 2010-2023. You'd be hard pressed to find teams that hit on their mid round picks consistently. Here i will do it for you, lets look at the Eagles since everyone thinks their GM is great. Here is a list of their 4th round picks from 2010-2023

Trevard Lindley
Keenan Clayton
Mike Kafka
Clay Harbor
Casey Matthews
Alex Henery
Brandon Boykin
Matt Barkley
Jaylen Watkins
Mack Hollins
Donnel Pumphrey
Avonte Maddox
Josh Sweat
Shareef Miller
K'Von Wallace
Jack Driscoll
Zech McPhearson
Kelee Ringo

I see maybe 2 or 3 guys that actually panned out. Meanwhile guys like Amari Cooper, Deandre Hopkins, Joe Thuney, Jacobi Meyers, Keenan Allen, Ernest Jones were all traded for 4th round picks. So tell me again why you'd rather have that 4th rounder?
