My guy, they got JSN asking for $40M per right now. That's just one guy. They have a dozen FA (or guys on the last yr of their deals) that start or are very good rotational players.
It's what happens after a SB win (or loss) you have to give people raises, you will lose talent that you've been developing to get to that point.
it has nothing to do with going into cap hell, it's pointing out that their roster isn't gonna be the same next yr (like a lot of teams). They will ABSOLUTELY have to pay out a lot of that cap space for their current players this off season and rolled over into next yr. It's a fact and I have no clue why you're trying to argue with me about it.
acting like there's just another Stafford to be had is silly. You got a 3rd of the league looking for a QB. It's not that simple. They have picks THIS yr in a very underwhelming draft. We know Stafford is playing this yr, you think they're gonna draft a QB now? There is nothing in this draft.
It's not about who's a FA right now either, they have multiple DL that are in the last yr of their deal and more than likely aren't stepping onto the field without an extension. Like most good players. We've seen it here yr after yr. I'm guessing they spend picks on DBs because they have nothing currently. Puka is gonna be making $40M per and Adams is gonna want a new deal or will be leaving after this season. They lost their starting RT, they have to pay their LG top money etc.
where have I ever said they're in trouble? Again I'm pointing out all that "cap space" is gonna be accounted for with their own players for the most part. Much like when SF consistently had high end contract negotiations the past couple yrs NOW Seattle and the Rams (to a point) are going down that road.
FOR ONCE we don't have that (for better or worse) we don't have some massive in house contract extension to worry about (this yr or next). We can go out and make moves. We spent last off season cleaning the books and giving our QB a bag.
I feel like you're completely misinterpreting what I'm saying
Seattle has work to do but they will re-sign the guys they need to and they have a GM who has nailed his last few drafts.
They still have a far superior team than we do.
Disagree when healthy, we beat them last year as proof, good offseason changes things, it did for them, they got Demarcus Lawerence , cooper kupp, Rasheed shaheed, Sam darnold, earnest jones, were all free agents they got last year except shaheed as trade, but all were pick ups that put them over the top, stuff we can do the same with a good offseason.
Absolutely all that!!
I know they had solid drafts, but there's no denying all those offseason moves significantly moved the needle big time
FO needs to bring in the kind of depth that won't skip a beat when they have to take over for an injured player(s)... when healthy, Niners can compete and keep the game close with any team out there. Hopefully, they (at least) sign a DE/Edge, WR, FS in free agency
My point exactly. They made moves to an already strong roster and their roster is far superior to ours. Like I said, it's not even closer
Warner and Bosa wouldn't have helped the offense get absolutely owned by Seattle's D to the tune of 54-9 in the last two games we played them.
You guy are totally delusional if you think we can stack up head to head with Seattle even with a completely healthy roster.
We won week 1 IN Seattle.
