I think we'll see what was rumored with Peters at one time. Lynch will move to be Team President. They were likely happier with the last two drafts. Ahmed seems to be the head draft guy.. He got interest in being a GM from Miami. He withdrew I believe. They probably are promoting him to GM so they didn't lose him.
After some crappy Peters picks. They didn't care he left.anymore.

He already has this title, for whatever it's worth (not much).

Credit to Darnold for letting not messing things up for his defense this year, but things are usually not that comfortable. In 9/10 years you need your QB to lift you up. Purdy did that in the 2023 playoffs in all three games to different degrees - and never left a game at the end without the lead. I have yet to see anything from Darnold to show he can do that. I'll give him having a better arm and being taller, but everything else I favor Purdy on.

2023 was a long time ago. What about 24 and 25?

I wouldn't have a problem promoting Lynch to President of Football Operations or whatever and bringing someone else in as GM. Though I'm not as adamant as some in here on the topic, I think they could definitely stand to do a better job with the draft. I'm not sure I could even tell you who the last, real impact player was they drafted. I'm hoping Mykel Williams might end up being one, but you never can tell.

Let's hear it.

More accurate, quicker thinker, better preparation, better ability to lift lesser talented teams, was the reason we had the lead in the Super Bowl (would have been the reason we won if we had won,) was the bus driver and not a bus rider (unlike Sam Darnold.) There's more, someone else might care to entertain this further, but I am not going to waste any more time on this than I have to.

Not on Purdy that the 49ers' front office has an inability to consistently draft well. Even the best QBs can only lift inferior rosters so far.

The Niners need a voice from outside the organization. That's blatantly obvious.

Brock Purdy would be starting. This is hyperbole

Sam Darnold is coming off back to back 14-3 seasons and has better stats than Purdy in the past two years in almost every category and 60 TD passes the past two years. Oh and he just won a Super Bowl.

I don't see Purdy starting for them in any scenerio.

But nice of us to gift the Hawks Darnold. He was the QB we should have kept.

LOL

The pocket awareness, ability to see the field and go through progressions quickly, throw with anticipation, ability to dissect zone coverage, willingness to take calculated risks and attack tight windows with precision, scrambling ability, etc.

All of those things Purdy is superior to Darnold on. It's laughable to suggest Darnold is a better QB, even though he is still pretty good.

I mean this is the same guy that said Dilfer (or was it Brad Johnson) is a better QB than Marino. Better to ignore.

Definitely agree. It has to be the right voice, but we could use some different opinions. Im hoping Morris offers some helpful advice on Defense at least.
Do we draft finesse over smash mouth? Trying too hard to be Speedy Gonzalez over brute force? These types often injured.

Skattebo wanted to be here. Dang.

And he got hurt which was predicatable with the way he plays. Deebo played like that and he was always getting dinged up. Kittle too. You have to be willing to accept that players like that aren't going to be able to suit up every week.

It would be a huge mistake to promote from within for the GM job, in my opinion, this team needs an outside perspective who can be given final say on player personnel.
My hope is that they promote Lynch to President and hire Seahawks Vice President of Player Personnel Trent Kirchner to our GM position.

49ers scouting dept. has lost people over the years and has weakened, and the lack of a central voice or vision is showing with our draft picks.
They need something new.

Hard to see them bring someone from the outside that will tell Kyle and Lynch what to do.

I agree, I don't think this scenario happens. I think this would have to be Kyle's decision. Not many people who run teams willingly give up control. Kyle is the team's best asset, so what he says goes. If he wants to keep this structure going, then that's that. He has proven though, that he's willing to change things up.
It will be interesting to see how things go in the next month.

I am thinking the other direction. It's year 10 and no trophy. He's not stupid. He knows the circle chat he can't get it done and even worse, now the Hags in two years.

He might could still have final roster say but someone else could feed new and different options in. I can't believe for the life of me he wants another three years of this. Don't think it's all control and not a trophy. He knows. Lifelong stubborn is still no SB win losers. He has no real legacy without a win. Period. And he knows it so do something about it. Lynch needs to move up or on.
