Some of the top safeties Xavier McKinney, Jessie Bates, Talanoa Hufanga and Javon Holland were all free agents at one point.

Would love a real good safety in here (before an ER), we have no good veterans to lead that bunch. I hope they find in FA and draft one

49ers may have interest... he's currently starting at RDE for the Broncos so, we get to see him play tomorrow and possibly beyond
Hey, just heard a fun fact on TV.

The Pats have only 6 free agents next year, and they're in the super bowl. Imagine that.

I suppose it is not able the number but the quality of those players.

The Rams have the 13th overall pick from ATL and the 8th most cap space

The Hawks have the 4th most cap space and just a handful of free agents

We are screwed
Darnold is cooking. Lynch and Co did it again and chose the wrong player.

Good read on the process used by the Rams to re-build their team after years of trading away their early draft picks, which is the model the 49ers are replicating. The Niners' "weight-bearing walls" are Brock, Kittle, CMC, Trent, Fred and Bosa. The difference between the Rams and the Niners at this point in the process is that the Rams had already hit homeruns in their 2023 draft. They had drafted multiple impact players in Puka, Turner and Young. The 49ers have drafted 0 impact players

As 2023 began, Snead staked out Stafford, Kupp and Donald as the team's "weight-bearing walls," in his words, and the Rams began to offload the rest of the roster with especial focus on the defense. They took on a record $80 million in dead money, a decision so dramatic that Demoff had to release a letter to season ticket holders that explained the team's process and expressed his genuine optimism that the team could compete — a "we aren't tanking" manifesto, some in the organization now joke.

In April, still without a first-round pick, they drafted 14 rookies — including fifth-rounder Puka Nacua. The scouts went after players with three specific qualities: play speed (using GPS data from events such as the Senior Bowl or from players' universities instead of a 40-yard dash time), how they projected their bodies would develop and football IQ/character.
...
Armed with a first-round pick for the first time since 2016, the Rams drafted edge rusher Jared Verse at No. 19, then traded up in the second round to pair him with Florida State teammate Braden Fiske. Along with Kobie Turner and Byron Young, both 2023 third-round picks, the Rams' defensive line quickly became one of the best pass-rushing units in the NFL (and it certainly was the cheapest).
...
Now, with few exceptions, they are a homegrown team. Three of their five offensive linemen and both running backs were drafted by the franchise (or were added as undrafted free agents). So were three of their four tight ends. All but one receiver; all but one defensive lineman. Two of three starting corners; two of three safeties. Every pass rusher. Their newly extended starting middle linebacker, Nate Landman, was initially a cheap free-agent signing, now an outlier on a defense full of drafted players. The team made 30 picks in three years. (And still, only one was in the first round. Snead is still Snead, after all.)

Justin Jefferson or bust lynch, they need a qb , it makes sense, give them a first and mac and we got a deal

I don't think that gets a JJ deal done.

Will YOU trade JJ for any Air Mac 10 ??
As long as Lynch is still here and he is drafting, we are not going to win it all. Now we are getting surpassed by two NFC teams, and one made it to the Super Bowl with so much talent. I want 49ers to fire him… he has failed at drafting and free agency. How many more horrible drafts do we have to go through?! Ugh

Nah I'm good now. Did you finish your love letter that you are sending to Shanahan?

I am quite sure that you would have found a way to argue that we were screwed regardless.
