The truth is that people are not elite at their own jobs but expect every other man to be elite at thiers.

A tale as old as the stoics.
Not Sure what that is supposed to mean. As i was just stating my Opinion . They are going on to year 10 next year of a six Year Project.

And there Core stars are getting Older and coming of Major Injury's (Bosa, Fred) Trent at 38 and Kittle at 33 , CmC at 29 but body prolly feels like 76.

Point is i dont see any players coming through the pipeline that will be able to offset any of this loses down the road.

And with Lynch's track record of wasted picks. that's how i formed my opinion . You may not agree with it but that's my opinion

Don't let it bother you, dude. Debates go on for years on this forum, and posters get deeply entrenched in positions they took back in 2021 or whatever, regardless of recent history. Welcome to Niner Talk.

I don't. The beauty of it all is that we can share our opinion's and the bottom line is and i would like to think every one has the same goal. And that is for the 49ers to Win regardless of who is playing.

From your 'worst 5' you left out a very important one: Continuously rolling out very subpar Special Teams (prior to this year).

ST is such a crucial phase of today's parity-laden NFL. This year's improved ST has very much helped this team to its 12-5 record. IMO, it was a huge reason why the Niners lost the last SB (in particular, the giveaway on the punt return in the 3rd - Luter - to open the door for KC).

well, when i added the signing boyer part it went to how important it is to having a good st group. this is the first year we achieved that, and we had 12 wins mostly because of a sound offense and st team. the defense has been the worst i have seen in decades
We need younger bigger faster stronger athletes and coach them up.
Can't be cheap this offseason, open the wallet and upgrade the defense or gtfo
6 of the 49ers way games in 2026 are on turf. Not good for the constant injury problems. They travel to New york too. Worst turf in the NFL

Here we go again.

if they have the same injury problems again I want the entire front office and ownership banned from being anywhere near anything 49er related.

It's almost a given the same guys will get injured.

Purdy, Pearsall, Kittle, Bosa and Trent Williams will most likely miss 4+ games. Mykel and Warner are coming off major injuries and we don't have the depth to replace star players like that.
1.15- Jalon Walker
34 tackles, 5.5 sacks. 2 FF

1.26- James Pearce
26 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 1 FF

3.96- Xavier Watts
96 tackles, 5 INT, 11 PD

That's how you draft to re-build a D. Lynch should take notes.

Yes, how terrible to have the team playing in meaningful games in January. Just awful of him to do that. He needs to build a 2-15 roster to really show this fanbase how to lose unimportant games!

For me, it's not so much about playing relevant games in January. It's about watching division rivals lap us. Seattle and LA have won super bowls, lost core talent, and reloaded. During those same windows, our team seems to have eroded overall and overpaid for talent with limited impact. I put that on Lynch mainly.

Seattle hasn't won a SB since five years before Lynch was hired, so saying they lapped us during his tenure is simply not true.

As for the Rams, they also fell back and out of the playoffs before we did after their second SB appearance. They should be ahead of us in that regard since they fell off first, missing the playoffs in 2022 (like we did in 2024). Their current 2025 team is, by this measure, our 2027 team. If the 49ers lose in the Wild Card round next weekend that would match LA's 2023 result, meaning we're actually keeping pace with theirs.

I get it and don't mean to say the windows are perfectly aligned. I just mean those two organizations have fielded greatly improved and competitive teams while ours seems to be slowly withering. I'm not confident in Lynch to get us into a place where we can compete with those two in the nearish future.

We have been without our best talent for significant chunks of the season. To just ignore that and push these narratives is being willfully blind. Two days ago we were in the hunt for the number 1 seed, not the largely healthy (compared to us), Rams. If we are withering anywhere, its due to health and lack of usage. Pearsall has had some great games but can't stay on the field. If he were healthy, I don't think its a stretch to say he would've had a 1000 yard season.

Mykel was having a good year for what he was brought in to do. We aren't giving up runs the way we have wth him on the field. I can get into others but its been well documented. There has been enough talent provided. They need to be kept healthy and to actually be used.

Id just like to see them play their guys. Continue to draft and play their guys. The team won 12 games with the M.A.S.H. unit. Get an independent doctor to review what we are doing training wise and play available talent. Id actually rather they not spend money. They do well with under the radar talent. High priced free agents not so much.

Yea the noise around our drafting only gets louder. We've added some solid pieces last two years but have no ability to find impact

I never ignored the injury issue, but unavailability of talent is part of the withering--not a counterargument or an acceptable excuse in my mind. As you noted, competitive teams are not being affected so severely by injuries, and I can't accept that it's purely random based on the data we have at this point. What are they doing that we are not? Is it the training staff? Is it the scouting approach? Is it the practice regimen or gameplan? I know these are not new questions, but the urgency to solve whatever is going on must be at an all-time high.

The Niners haven't had a lot of success with early round picks in the last few years. Much of tha tstarted with the trade tomove up and draft Lance. They sacrificed their next 2 first round picks. They've also been unlucky with injuries to early picks. Pearsall last year and much of this year. Cowing hasn't been able to get on the field at all this season. This year all 5 of the top picks missed all or part of the season. Williams was getting better when he went down for the yer. Number 2 Collins had trouble early on but showed some promise as the season progressed. Nick Martin #3 struggled to get healthy most of the year. #4 Jordan Watson barely played because of injuries that set him back. Jordan James was supposed to be a good backup at RB but never saw the field.
