Ya ok. 2-2 in NFCCG.

Pretty much like his winning % in regular season games

Fine. Name all the other recent coaches and GMs that have guided their team to 4 league title games and 2 SBs in that period. It's not a long list.

The other guys won Super Bowls

We are supposed to be happy coming in 2nd place?

If your evaluation of coaches and GMs is only winning a SB then nearly every coach must suck. Harbaugh didn't win one. They thought Reid was bad in Philly and they ran him out of town. I guess he learned how to coach on that plane to KC. If you win one and never get to another one are you a grerat coach?

Why am I angry and frustrated?

Maybe because I'm tired of this franchise losing and making terrible decisions? Maybe because I haven't seen a Super Bowl since 1994 and am tired of heartbreaking losses.

I get it though, to be a super fan one has to admit this team can do no wrong and you dare not criticize them.

The real question is: Why are you content with losing and coming in 2nd place?

Who said anyone is content? Every SB has a loser as well as a winner. Do all those losing coaches suck? You need to get there before you can even have a shot at winning or losing. In Kyle's case he got beat by the best team and best coach of this era. KC went to 5 SBs in 6 years. They won 3 and lost 2 so I guess Reid is only 2/5 bad.

Who said that? Can you find me a single post where I said "i'm just happy to get here" or any variation of contentment with 2nd place or losing?

Once again me b***hing about us losing the SB isn't going to change the outcome. Just like ranting and raving about how change needs to happen changes nothing.

I want the best chance for the 49ers to win the SB. In my belief, based on reality and everything I've seen lately, Kyle Shanahan gives us the best chance of that happening as a coach.

It doesn't mean I think he can do no wrong or everything the team does is the right move. Making up things to make things seem worse or using hyperbole to act like this team is the equivalent of the Browns is ridiculous and once again...changes nothing.

And that's the issue - there are things to criticize or at least be concerned about and we can discuss them. The issue is many of you guys come in here shouting nonsense and things that are simply either completely untrue or stripped down of any nuance or logic so we get stuck arguing about those things than actual concerns based on valid points.

Acting like this front office hasn't had any right decisions is a ridiculous take. You make it outside of the 49ers forum and you'll be laughed at for saying it.

Now if you simply pointed out how some of their picks are reaches and they need to do a better job forecasting draft boards across the league so they can get better bang for their buck, that's a valid concern.

If you brought up how trading up to #3 overall without 100% knowing who would be there for them so far ahead of the draft and taking a project QB during a season where they couldn't really test them teh same way cuz of covid wasn't a smart move...that's a valid concern.

That the only quality QB that Kyle has actually drafted was a 7th round pick that likely wasn't even one that Kyle really pushed for...valid concern.

See the difference?

At the end of the day the Browns have as many titles as we do since 2017. What's the difference?

Im all for keeping Shanahan. As long as he has ZERO say in the draft or personnel decisions. I'm pretty sure he has had final say since 2017 and Lynch is just a puppet GM.

We need to desperately find an experienced GM.

So the 9ers and Jets are the same?

Speaking of the Jets man they're gonna speed up their rebuild with all those 1st round picks!!! Cheeses!!! If I were them I'd try to give a s**tload of picks for Mason Crosby!!! Then again this draft should be where you rebuild your O-line. Hey about giving the 9ers some picks for Mac Jones hehe!!!

This is where I am at too.

The pro-Kyle crowd can't say that this is an unreasonable demand.

2.5 sacks for Maliek Collins today. 6.5 on the year.

Just brilliant decision making by this front office

Collins did very little for us last season. He was a big disappointment. However, fans had unrealistically high hopes for him. After all, Houston gave up on him though he did show some potential to rush the passer there.

Based on his performance here last year, not paying him what he wanted was the correct decision. In hindsight, that looks bad. No one foresaw him having the season he is having now rushing the passer. The problem with him was that not only was he not getting the pressure that was expected of him here, he was a poor run defender. He was one of the reasons we couldn't stop the run last year. In checking the stats (I haven't seen him play), he still is not a good run defender.

So, the evidence shows that was not a bad decision by the FO last season. He just had not shown he was worth the money he demanded. Letting him go and drafting Alfred Collins will prove to be a solid move.

That was a major head scratcher that they let him go and kept gross Matos who is trash

YGM has been effective as a pass rusher. His problem is staying healthy.

I thought Maliek Collins was the bright spot of the defense last season. He damn well should've been re-signed. The worst part of the defense last year was Nick Sorensen, dude just didn't know WTF he was doing, no adjustments, no creativity when he had to blitz. He f**kin sucked!!

The player has contractual obligations, if those are violated, certain, or all parts of a contract are void. Based on BA's response, he admitted he screwed up.

I agree on Sorenson. Bad hire.

The biggest problem in analyzing linemen, both defensive and offensive, is that their performance on passing plays, whether good or bad, shows up clearly. On running plays, it is just the opposite- it is generally hard to tell who did well and who screwed up and why. Hence, we see Collins getting some good reviews for the times he did get pressure, but his lack of ability to defend his gap on running plays is harder to diagnose. He was that way last season and this year as well. His run rating is far below his pass rush rating. For that reason, he is not playing as much on run downs as passing downs.

Statistically, in 2024, thru 11 games, Collins had 21 total tackles, including 12 solo tackles, and 4 sacks. He was not in the top 30 in sacks.

In 2025 thru 11 games, he has 24 tackles, including 14 solo, and 6.5 sacks. He is ranked #16 in sacks.

So, he is having a better year this year than last, at least in rushing the passer. Why that is, I can't say.

Lynch is not all that inexperienced. He spent 10 years as part of the prime-time game broadcast. In that position, he had the opportunity to interview and analyze every organization in the league. As such, he gained a great deal of comparative knowledge as to what works and what doesn't. The success this franchise had in such a short time is undoubtedly due to that broad expanse of knowledge he gained, and the quality of people he brought in. Despite the highest injury rate in the league during his tenure here, that team has come back to stay competitive as often as any team not from Kansas City.

The biggest need in the organization is to replace the brain drain that has resulted from so many quality coaches and execs over the past five years. That isn't Lynch's fault. Rather it is a testament to the work he, and Kyle, have done.

So, hate him if you want, but he is still one of the more respected GMs around the league.

Penix is having ACL reconstructive surgery. He might not be ready next year at all. And London has what Pearsall had. A PCL injury. Who knows how long he will be out.

So ya, the best team in the league will get a top 5-10 pick

But they were soo good that they predicted both these injuries?

That must've been when he was on the Panthers. Collins was their best IDL last year. And a better pass rusher than Matos.
