They may take a cheap flier on some guy (like an Omenihu years ago) for cheap but I really dont see any big names being dealt here.
I've heard both Shanahan & Lynch on the radio here in the Bay Area multiple times this season and also have listened to them in press conferences - not once have I heard them say this team isn't or won't be a Super Bowl contender this season. Please provide a link or evidence otherwise if you feel you've heard the contrary.
So far this season and despite having multiple injuries including to some of their core players who are difference makers, the Niners have been very resilient and competitive in going 4-1. As the season progresses, they will continue to get many of these key players back from injury, including hopefully their QB1.
If you look around the entire league and specifically at the top teams, there is not one or two dominant teams that stand far away above all others. Some of the top teams in the NFC besides the Niners, like the Eagles and the Lions, haven't looked all that great. This Sunday will be another big test for the Niners against a good TB team and hopefully they can keep building off of their W over a good Rams team.
You may be right about the Niners not trading for a big-name DL. With Bosa out for the year, I do hope they can trade for a DL who can be effective at getting to the QB and also be a reliable contributor as part of the DL rotation.
The Niners get some/most of their key guys back healthy and I'll like their chances against any NFC team or any team in the league for that matter.
