No reason to trade for a guy this year unless he'll be apart of the team long-term. This isn't a year to make an Emmanuel Sanders or Chase Young type trade. We're not 1-2 players away from contending.

Giants after losing to the Saints should be about ready to trade Thibodeaux soon. Do your thing Lynch

I don't know dude, if they go 6-1 after Falcons game, there will be more talks about how Niners are contenders until they lose bad or pile up on injuries. Besides the Bills, the rest of the league suddenly looks just as beatable as we do. There doesn't seem to be a clear cut dominant team in the NFC right now.

I disagree, we doing well, we owe it to the team to get something and see what happens, I bet the New England patriots thought it was a rebuild year when Bledsoe went down and Brady took over , stranger things have happened

That is what the NFL wants - a bunch of mediocre teams all pretending to be good and fans falling all over themselves to think their 6 and 6 teams has a chance for the SB.

Yeah that's a strange comment - with some of our best players out, we're 4-1 and leading our division, with home games vs the Rams and Seahawks to come. At Arizona but they just lost to the freakin' Titans, Murray might be hurt. Philly and Detroit are our main obstacles in the NFC, Philly certainly looked beatable today, Detroit tends to fold in the playoffs. Bills seem like the only for real for real team, and they have their hands full with the Pats right now. Injuries are taking out half the league. Why not go for it this year?

Absolutely. By the end of the year our luck could be a healthy Niners team while everyone else suddenly gets our (last year) bad luck
I don't wish injuries on anyone, but sometimes the tables turn

After a couple more bad losses and they end up 1-6 they might start to consider getting offense some help and unload a D guy

Literally the only argument against pushing the chips into the middle is Bosa's season-ending injury, but all it takes is one big trade to plug that hole in for 2025.

We are now literally tied for best record in the NFL for at least 4 days.
Why shouldn't this team consider itself in the hunt?

I would consider these reasons at least for why it might be premature to say we're in the hunt:
- Our best defensive player is out for the season. As a result, we haven't been able to pressure the QB at all. The only good QB we faced without Bosa easily tore us up.
- Our starting QB is hurt with no clear timetable on his return.
- We haven't gone a single game without losing 1-2 starters to injury. There's no real reason other than pure hope to think our injury problems are going to slow down.
- All of our wins have been 1 score games with 1-2 plays deciding the outcome. That's a little fluky.
- We can't run the ball worth a damn and it doesn't feel easily fixable.
- Our backup QB is also banged up, has a PCL issue, and has been getting hit a lot with our only other backup QB being a guy that wasn't on the team during training camp.
- Most analytics have our offense and defense in the middle of the pack in terms of DVOA and EPA.
I'm sure there are other reasons. Of course, all of these might change (other than the Bosa one) as the season continues.

The Bosa injury is literally WHY you trade for Hendrickson, though. Need a rental who's only under contract for this season to fill in that hole while it's empty? Then Hendrickson is your guy.
Honestly the only one I agree with is the running game one but that very well could be because Kittle is missing.
