I know there's a 50% chance you're joking, but if the Bengals trade Hendrickson they're throwing the white flag in on this season. Going from Browning to Mac Jones isn't really going to help them any.

If they trade Hendrickson, it'll be for draft capital, and MAYBE a young player that can help them well beyond this year. But the only young player I could see us trading is Brown. But then again would you feel comfortable trading important depth?

That's funny, because I was half joking. I truly think we could trade for him for a second rounder next year and a fourth rounder either next year or the following year.

Yeah that's exactly the kind of deal I'm thinking. These nonsense proposals involving 1st round picks and any players other than Brown are just that: nonsense.

But are you doing so knowing he could walk at the end of the year? If so that's still too rich for me for a 14 game rental.

I don't know how many times this needs to be repeated:

In 2021, the Rams traded a 2nd and a 3rd for an 8 game rental (plus playoffs) in Von Miller.

They then won the Super Bowl and everyone worshipped the move, despite Miller walking for nothing afterwards.

A 2nd and 4th for Hendrickson is really not that crazy. Maybe we could try tagging and trading him after the season, who knows.

I wonder if the Rams would have still made that move if Aaron Donald, Stafford, and Kupp were all injured or on IR, because that's basically the situation we're in right now.

Yeah, that sort of the point now, though. We are 3-0 right now with all of those fantastic players injured. To me, that tells me how strong of a team we are. Adding Hendrickson and getting Kittle, Aiyuk, and the rest of our injured players back puts us in the upper echelon in my opinion. Hendrickson puts us over the top.

I don't see BA being effective this year.

If/when he comes back it will likely take several games to get back to himself in this offense.

I want Thibodeaux but I think that Shanahan and Lynch are just like most of us as fans. They are happy with our 3-0 start but they aren't sure how good this team really is and they wanna see more evidence before making a trade for a pass-rusher.

Maybe if we go 5-1 then Lynch is gonna make some calls.

I agree on BA. But Kittle? Purdy? Jennings?

I'm telling you all:

Thibo is NOT enough to replace Bosa. He just isn't. There's a reason he's considered the third man out on his own 0-3 team. Chubb (who was injured all of last year and only had a good rookie season) and Jordan (who is middle-aged and hasn't had a good season since before COVID) are not enough, either.

You have to replace a top 10 edge rusher with another top 10 edge rusher. So it has to be either Trey Hendrickson or Danielle Hunter.

I agree with the rest of our comment though.

Of course he's not enough to replace Nick. There are maybe 3-4 guys who are enough in the whole NFL. Question is will the rest of our DL step up enough where adding someone like Thibodeaux still gives us a fighting chance to make a run ALL the way this season?

It certainly appears that we've drafted pretty well the last two seasons. Giving up key draft picks without winning the ultimate prize would hurt long term. Obviously you never know with draft picks. You could get a Cam Latu, Trey Sermon, TDP or Jake Moody in the 3rd round. Or you could get a Fred Warner, Puni or Stout. It's a toss up.

What we do know is the team needs young, cheap talent for the best long term potential so it's about the balance of trying to win now vs long term.

I hate wasting a season but how the 49ers approached this year makes me think they weren't expecting a SB run this year. Obviously things may change and you adjust accordingly. It's why the Bosa injury sucks so much, he was having such a great camp and start of the season and we were winning with the young guys.

That's why I suggested Trey Hendrickson or Danielle Hunter. Bosa is a top 5 edge rusher in football and those are the two acquirable guys who are considered top 10 edge rushers, so the drop-off won't be that significant or noticeable.

Thibo/Chubb/Jordan aren't even top 30 edge rushers.

I rather spend a 2nd/3rd for the better Edge like Hendrickson or Hunter. We might even keep them around long-term since Bosa can't really be counted on to stay healthy anymore. The Superbowl is at home and we have a very easy schedule, so trying for the #1 seed should be the main focus this season.

I don't think it's just fans, I don't think too many teams are interested in a fire sale right now. Brian Daboll is probably on the hottest seat in the NFL, not sure if he'd be fine with giving away talent right now for future picks when he won't be the coach to use those future picks!!! I'm sure in his mind he can turn it around.

Daboll is getting fired by the trade deadline unless Dart looks like a franchise QB right away, IMO.

McDaniel might also get fired by then.

DeMeco Ryans and Zac Taylor aren't on the hot seat, but they could absolutely be in a position by the trade deadline to be willing to trade their 31-year-old star edge rusher, especially when said edge rusher isn't signed beyond 2025 or 2026.

Demeco could easily be 3-0. Bummer, hope they turn it around
I predict we will trade jones in the off season for a nice pickup and then pickup the panthers QB Bryce young and revitalize his career. Lol

Kittle will be back, so that number will go down. If Aiyuk comes back this year it'll be down even further. When those two + Bosa are on IR, then, yeah, it'll be a big number.

That list means nothing. It's the numbe rof players that is important not hw much money they're being paid.
