ALL LYNCH gotta do now is...

Trade for (DE) Hendrickson - give up two picks (2nd and a 3rd for 2026 or 2nd in 2027)
Trade for (TE) Mayer - give up 4th rounder and a 7th
Trade for (WR) Waddle - give up Yuck and a 3rd in 2027
I just don't think they can win like this. You can't always be the most injured team in the league. So you have to get younger and stop picking previously injured players in the draft. If they have injury history they should not be taken high at least. You want young healthy players. Lynch and Shany try but if or until we are not the most injured team in the league at all key positions I just don't see a Super Bowl Championship. You can't win like that. Just can't be done.

Unfortunately he is. No draft picks and a blown salary cap on those deals.
Everyone is wanting to go after Henderson, I rather go after one of the Giants Pass rusher since they most likely won't be making playoffs or be relevant. Giants are 0-3 and play Chargers, Broncos, and Eagles next few weeks. Go after Thibo or someone, they will be more desperate.

Would we be on the hook for Thibo's 5th year option since the Giants already exercised it? Keep getting conflicting answers on this.

We play the Giants right before the trade deadline too, FWIW.

Yep

Not so sure we want to do that, then. Unless we can flip him or extend him for a bargain.

Yes.

Sounds doable
Most of what I am reading in this thread has it all wrong. We absolutely should not mortgage the future on an expensive veteran. This year is all about two things:

1. Developing Brock with the young offensive talent;
2. Developing the young defense under Salah.

The last two drafts have produced a lot of potential. You throw in Dee Winters and Kalia Davis, both of whom seem to be stepping up (especially Dee), this year is all about improving and transitioning from the team's old veterans to a new young core. We need to do what the Rams and Eagles have done moving off of guys like Cox and Donald. We need to get younger, faster, stronger, and healthier.

For me, the next three weeks are huge. If this team competes and wins against the Rams/Bucs, then I stay in the fight. However, if they go 1-2 or 0-3 I start to consider moving the teams most valuable trade assets, e.g. Warner and McCaffrey. I love Warner. I want him to be a niner for life. But he could fetch a 1 or a combo of 2/3. McCaffrey would not land the same picks, but the team could still get a midround pick or two. Trent and McCaffrey have seemed to lost a step and Kittle and Bosa are hurt. It's time to build for the future. Do it while Salah is still the coach.

Remember what Bill Walsh said: It's better to get rid of a player a year early versus a year late.

I was listening to you and taking you seriously until you said to trade Warner. That is absolutely not happening.

I'll add on that I see Kawakami proposing to trade for Hendrickson by giving up a 1/3 in 2026 and a 2 in 2027. I just can't in good conscious make this bold of a move. It's too risky.
The 49ers are projected to be over the cap next season so they have to be cautious about making any big moves. They may indeed need to trade Aiyuk in order to stay under the cap next season. The frontoffice will be working overtime in the off season.

He's the only asset who has any value. If they were to trade any player, he makes the most sense. Play and develop Martin behind him while Salah is still here. I know, it seems nuts, but this team got old and injured.
