I know a few people wanted us to sign Amari Cooper...glad the 49ers didn't. Raiders just used a roster spot on a guy who retired a week later.

We had inferred that he didn't want to practice and wanted to start ... not that hard to get from that point to retiring for "lack of passion for the game".
I really want to see what Watkins can become ... losing faith in Cowing.

Which is sad. Wish that wasn't the case. But it is.
I know what will we do without all those Jarrett Kingston, Brayden Willis, Tariq Castro-Fields, Kaden Smith etc players
Kingston has been getting positive reviews from the Panthers ... and has been playing center. I know of another team that's been looking for a new center for a while.
The 49ers have tried 6 players at C in the last few years. They just keep ending up with the same solution.

In practice. Moss, Hennessy, Zakelj, Nugent, Brunskill, Bartch, Gutierez, Luciano, Colby, all got some snaps and coaching at Center in the Brendel time. And I'm sure I forgot some.
By the way, after Richburg, there was one season of Garland and one of Mack before Brendel. They've been looking for a center for a WHILE.

They have? I don't know if I'd consider dumpster diving AFTER the draft (UDFA) really looking

Yeah who would want a player like Jordan Mason, or this year like Bryce Huff?
Dwight Clark was an 11th round pick, John Taylor a 9th ... so that would be deep in your "dumpster".
Then there is the $50M man Brock Purdy who was THE LAST PICK before the "dumpster".
I don't care where a player is found, I care what they do.
If this years rookies work out I suspect next year OL will be a higher priority in the draft (Brendel, McKivitz, Brendel, and Burford need to be replaced at least)

I thought we were talking about the Center position? I can easily list players that were DRAFTED and undrafted of various position groups too lol

You clearly called UDFA pickups "dumpster diving" ... that's what I was responding to.
And this year Moss was a UDFA and has looked promising.

Yes; in reference to you saying that they have been looking for a center for a while. If that is where they are looking; chances are not very good of it hitting. Proof is in the pudding.
Yes I agree on Moss; I hope they give him a shot at center as well. Happy they didn't take a chance of cutting him hoping that he'd make it to the practice squad like they did with Kingston last year. That guy was who I thought would be our Center of the future; admittedly, strictly due to his ridiculous RAS score as a center. It was the highest I've ever seen

Right, so you saying UDFA is dumpster diving is dismissing the fact that great players have been found there, and we don't need great, we just want better. We'd like great, but that hasn't worked out yet.
I doubt they spend a pick before the 4th on a center any time soon, hopefully Moss makes that moot and suddenly dominates the NFL :)

We are a young, oft injured, and inexperienced team at this point. This is not the quest for 6, this is a learning season.

There just aren't a lot of great centers each year in the draft. The Niners who usually draft in the later part of eachroundaren't usually ina position to use a high pick on a center.
